YEP 40A and Wicked 4800 KV in my 300X
Hey, I bit the bullet and got the YEP 40A. I also got the Wicked 4800 KV Motor.
Hey, this made my little Heli as fast as my 450X so I'm stoked! I am also running HiTec 5065-MG collective servos and a HiTec 5083-MG tail servo and the built in YEP BEC seems to be doing the trick. I used the ESC settings found here (2nd post) for the 45A and 450X with no issue: https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=496493 I followed Dylan's suggestions. Only issue I have had is it is hard to get the stock 9T Pinion to ride low enough on the Wicked shaft to completely engage the main gear- about 1/64th of an inch is not in contact. Maybe I need to get the Lynx Slant Gears. Does anybody know rather their pinion has this problem with the Wicket Motor? Also, which pinion to use with this motor? |

I have full contact with the Lynx gear and pinion and the Wicked motor.

I believe Dylan recommended 10T on the Wicked motor with your YEP.
What I find is the copper pinions are soft and the pinion included with the Wicked had the set screw stripped during a flight after many flights after installed. Lucky my 300x landed safely when I noticed the lack of power. What I purchased was THIS from helidirect. It fit perfectly and it's hardened steel. Fits the wicked motor perfectly and has good mesh with stock main gear. It's a cheap solution with good results. |

Use the 10 tooth on the Wicked motor. Works much better. I too had the threads on the 9 tooth strip and lost the grub screw in flight. Or as nartac said, get the rhino gear.

Thanks everybody!
I can't believe the difference in performance. I am excited because I did the whole thing myself- programming the ESC, soldering, etc. Couldn't have done it without HeliFREAK though. |
