Default What is most reliable ESC for Logo 800

You'll see three post from me about problems I am having that I suspect are from my YGE ESC. Is there an ESC that is considered more reliable that I should switch to. Can you give me any specifics on why one is preferred over another? Id really appreciate the input.

Default I guess....

I guess, most of all the 800 XX pilots out there use the YGE from the stock set.
Frankly speaking, there was no alternative and waterproof option when the XX has arrived the market
There were some problems with a hard kick on spool up but this was solved by a software
update from the esc. I would say YGE is a verry reliable product.

Now the Kontronik Kosmik is available and many have tested this piece of hardware. Me too.
Build-in BEC; great logging tools and a really impressive and smooth govenor function.
Expensive but it worth....

I used the YGE for ~200 flight without any kind of malfuction.....YGE is great... i dont like the Vstabi
governor.

Default I use

the Kosmik 200 because a buddy sold this item for a good price. Otherwise i would buy a 160+ and
i´m sure, it would be enough at least for me.
Here is a log from some "speeding tests" from today..... the surface from the Kosmik was ~60 degress
celcius. The Pyro 800 competion was on 95 degress celcius. A Kosmik Cool is a good decision

I would also recommend a backup Lipo for the BEC current peaks.

I test flew the Kosmik 160 today and the log showed that the most I pulled was 110 amps, that that was a spike doing some hard 3D, most of what I pulled was 60 amps, so the 160 is definitely adequate.

I'm not sure why yet but I also gained somewhere around 2 minutes in my battery time after changing from the YGE to the Kosmik. I use Pulse 5000 7S batteries and was flying 5:40 landing with around 40% left, now I'm flying 7:40 with about 40% left. These are approximate numbers, but my point is that there is something giving me about two minutes more flying time than I had.

I notice the same thing with my 200 HV. I know it works more cold (cold=efficient) and that make a big difference. Also the governor is very efficient and that help also.

My maximun peak was 258A but it was at 1900 HS and 12.6 Pitch. The manual recommend 11 degrees of Pitch only and 1800 HS. I was only trying to test the limits. All this with 80% curve.

The now i am using 76% in curve and 12 degrees of Pitch. The Kosmik is in another level.

You can change the ri comp if you want, but it makes little difference.

Very nice and clean, Nelvick...excellent job.......

I'm also using Pulse batts.

And, I'm using a Kosmik 200HV, rather than the Kool Kos.....saved 50g of weight...
what did you heat-sink fan weigh?.....

The reason I ask, is that I knew the Kos(heavier than the YGE) would make me
nose-heavy....I "staggered" my Pulse batts. as far back as possible on the main
batt. mounting plate.....still had to add ~15g of tail weight...just fore of the tail-case,
tail boom junction....I know 15g on a 15.5 lb. heli.....

Noticed your Kos fuse........how's it holding up?...with vibes and flex, I mean?
On mine, I applied 3 layers of heat shrink to minimize mechanical failure.

I also used the Minicopter D135 CF Kos mounting adapter plate.

I figure, if the fuse is blown, the Kos won't arm...

Having said that...with regards to the OP's question.....

I think that the Kos is best for the 800XX....for me....

And the Kon. internal SBECs have the best characteristics that I've ever measured....no need for an external SBEC....

In addition, the Kos. has a flight data recorder.
