Hi,

Regarding the first charge of a new LiPo battery:

As mentioned by the manufacturers of batteries Nominal voltage of a battery Lipo is 3.7-3.8 V.
The discharge curve of the battery will probably be exponential with different levels of currents along the discharge therefore does not allow us to work with the shear stress (Vmin - for the specified battery 3.0V if I'm not mistaken) battery when we in flight as the voltage will not be a straight linear (or near linear) to have more control of when the discharge approaches the final voltage of the battery. (probably from what I have seen is the shear stress of 3.0 V per cell .)
But for cycling with charger would be interesting to work your entire spectrum of discharge with a current up to a little less than 1C causing the disposal of electrons for the entire working range is homogenized in the plates, therefore making a test of their performance and reliability (check this good)? .......... believe that this type of procedure can be done to verify exponential amortized or fast cutting when approaching the final voltage (tensção cutting) with a controlled temperature not to shake the very molecules.
This procedure is used in general? What is the main reason you're using the battery is almost to its rated voltage? Curved or straight after this abrupt discharge voltage function of the high current consumption and low voltage required to power?

when i get my new 250 mah hyperion g3 cx 0250 packs for my mcpx and there rated for up to 5c charge and 25c discharge

i have a 6port parallel board for them

im wondering about when i charge them first and do the 5 cycles on them from 3.8-4.20-3.8-4.20-3.8 do i have my pl8 charge at 1c at 250mA or at 1500mA (total of 6cells )?
and what should i set the discharge rate?

when i have them broken in the same thing I'm wondering do i charge at there 1c rate of 250mA or can i go to 1.5amps? and does that spread the amps across each lipo to 250mA?

If you want to break at 1c, then set the charge rate to 250ma. Then set the packs in parallel value to 6. The current will be automatically multiplied resulting in a charge rate of 1.5 amps.

Discharge rate is up to you. I break mine in at 1 amp each, not in parallel.

so when i get the 6 lipos you recommend cycling them 1 at a time?

I would. If a cell has an issue during the first few cycles, if they are charged in parallel you may not be able to detect it. Run a at least three cycles through the cells to gain some trust of their health before charging in parallel.

hi,

probably my question has already been covered here, but this thread is very long and it is hard to find what i need.

supposing i don't want to fly a charged battery, what is the best option, please?

1) fly it even you are not in the mood;
2) keep it charged and fly it the NEXT day;
3) discharge it using the lipo storage function and charge it again tomorrow before flying.

i'd like to know what causes less damage to the battery life and performance.

also, in order to keep all the information in one place, the thread starter may want to add the answer to the initial post. just a suggestion.

thanks a lot.

I myself would keep it charged for a day or two.

I understand charging methods except with these small one cell lipos I have two 150 mah and two 70 mah combined voltage of 440mah would .4 be a 1c charge rate

440mah is a capacity not voltage.. and yes a 1C charge would be about .4A but I'd charge them faster than that. Probably 1A at least.

Thanks for the info I will be amping it up soon I will be charging 6 for the msrx but the reason I was wanting the 1c was I had 2 70mah from my sons scout cx I didnt wamt to fry.. I have a 3c rate on the 150's and with 6 I should be able to charge at 2.7amps if I understand that correctly and doesnt the capicity determine the charger rate I am kinda new to lipos

Use the 'storage charge' feature.. not discharge. 3.85v/cell is roughly where you want to be for storage. What charger do you have?

Hmm. never heard of that one! maybe it's time for a more mainstream charger like iCharger or FMA?

I was just wondering why some people store there battery's in a refrigerator?? whats the advantage/ disadvantage of that?? I have not taken care of my battery's in the past. I have around 1000. worth of puffy battery's. I just bought two new Glacier 5000 battery's and I'm gonna run them threw my Hyperion Duo ans cycle them three time each (cycle)
I never use more the 60% battery at each flight. and I will now store charge my battery's instead of going out of town for weeks at a time leaving them full charge if there is any other recommendations...I'm all ears!!! thx

Its important to store your packs at storage voltage and in a cool place. I see you are in Az. Storing them in the garage in the middle of summer in 100F+ temps is not particularly good for them.

I live in the NW where our hot summers are in the 80s and maybe we see a few weeks in the 90s. So I don't worry about storing them in the garage.
