Raptor 90 FBL head....
I'm going to convert my Raptor 90 to flybarless. Going to use an Align rotor head.
Anybody have an opinion on DFC head versus standard FBL head. Also, anybody have fabrication dimensions for mainshafts for either head, or shafts already fabbed to sell?? Thanks for your help. Bradley

I could repost all this, but start here. And here too. https://www.helifreak.com/showthread...barless&page=2 I give some pretty good details on the conversion starting on page 2. I used the Align 3G and the DFC masts with modifications. I have 2 that are converted: R90 #1 is DFC, Radix V2 710mm blades R90 #2 is 3G, currently Mavrikk 680mm - but that's because I broke the Align 690s. R90 #2 is using a Raptor 90 G4 canopy - and it fits pretty well. The 3G head lowers the blades about 10mm vs the stock TT flybarred head. The DFC lowers it 10mm more than the 3G head. It is effectively 20mm lower than stock. Notice the 2 fingers - that is the difference between the 3G & the DFC head. I think I need to change the DFC head from 710mm blades back to 690mm - I like the way the 3G head is flying, but I don't know if it is because of the shorter blades (680 vs 710). The airframes are almost identical - R90 #2 is all TT upgrades whereas R90 #1 is all Quick UK upgrades. They both use the YS 91SR-3DS and the Skookum SK540 FBL controller. Note!!! The DFC head will not work with the TT R90 metal swashplate - the DFC head uses 5mm balls & ball-links - they will drag on the swash crown. I didn't want to try to replace the DFC 5mm balls with 4.75mm balls, so I used the Quick UK swashplate. Last edited by ticedoff8; 03-02-2013 at 03:54 PM.. |
