Raptor 90G4 flybarless review
Sooo, the new 90G4 is here and I'm looking around for user reviews and such. So any reviews out there as yet? Tower shows late august, but I'm sure some folk have gotten their hands on it already. Spill the beans guys! Looking to see if I should buy!

reaaz they will be available here in Australia in about 2-3 weeks. I managed to get one a little earlier from the australian dustrubitor. No I am not a sponsored pilot. Just mad keen about the new raptor. I plan on doing a build thread on an Australian forum but could copy the info onto the freak no problem.
Less than 24hrs till it arives.

Wow, Very Intersting pics. I was wondering about the 15mm main shaft. from the pics, can see its a thin wall design with 4 bolts! Could be lighter than the previous 12mm R90

Greetings,
I have one and I am part of the way through the build. So far I only have had the time to build the rotor head and some of the main mech. section. The parts are very well made and everything lines up exactly. There are a few parts in plastic that I am sure some company will redo in metal as "bling". I am also sure there will be some who will feel the CF side frames are too thin. I was surprised that the flybarless rotor head has mixer arms. This is my first two blade flybarless but the others I have seen have links going directly from the swash plate to the rotor grips. For now I am building it as the directions say to do it. If anyone has insight into this I would like to learn more. There are a few parts that TT has assembled. If you are or will be building one of these check the prebuilt parts closely. I removed the screws and found that they had indeed put locktite on them but it was an extremely small amount. In fact a few of the screws did not feel like they even had locktite on them when I removed them. I look forward to completing this build. I have not decided what motor or ESC I will use. yes, I was also a bit suprised about the mixer arms on the main shaft. Every other fybarless setup I have seen uses direct swash to rotor grip arm links (with idler "sissors" arms linked to the swash to keep it (swash) in sync with rotor head.
This new TT setup would probably help in saving servo's in crashes.. but will add more linkage play. |

my friend got his raptor90 E720 flybarless today. he is going for kontronik 80HV ESC....693mm. EDGE blades. i recommended him to go for SCORPION HKIII 4035-500kv. with 12T pinion...in the manual, factory says:
Motor: Brushless, 470 - 520kV, 450 - 470kV, Scorpion brand or Steve Neu 1912 520kv motor recommended (neither brand carried) Pinion Gear: 12T (w/470 - 520kV motor) 13T (w/450 -470kV motor). can he go with this setup(scorpion 4035-500 12T pinion 693mm.blades) on this heli? |

Hii, i don't know much about electric setup, so I can't advise you on that. However I can say that I have Rotor tech 690's on my 11Lb R90 & it sure flies the smackdown with these blades & autos great too. So once your setup can spin those blades up to 1800-1900rpm.. on this lighter new version, It will be a beast. I think there's also the advantage of less bogging down on smaller blades during hard flicks, collective moves etc.. so just figure the power setup & you'll be fine!
