Going back a rev or 2 simply to get the non-official calibration tool running is not a good idea. There are changes in the new releases that the old ones know nothing about and could result in unknown failures. For example, latest release has the cyclic ring which is stored as part of each model; don't know what might happen if the old code sees this feature's data where it probably didn't expect it. Also, there's no guarantee that the format of the calibration data structures don't change from release to release; hence you may perform a calibration and when you upgrade it may change things around. Best thing to do is to wait for someone to leak the tool again or bug Futaba to incorporate it into the GUI (it's already in their code, just disabled in code).

Yepp, I agree that it is probably not a good idea to downgrade to a prevoius version to run the utility. ( I have tested it and the radio seems to be working ok after the donwgrade, but I have not fully tested it with a real flying model-memory)

The best solution would be that Futaba enabled the calibration in a similar way as for the 12Z.

What do you do with the calibration program?

Hi everybody!
I just bought a 14MZ with the last year firmware. I want to update it but I am afraid that doing so I will mess with the region and band capability. My TX is set for ASIA.
Available downloads are from japan or USA. Is it safe to use them on another region TX?
I don't want to end up with a USA bands restricted or worse Japan bands restricted TX.

Hi there.
It should not be a problem, I've done the last 3 updates with the software-release distributed in the US on my 14MZ with European region setting. Works like a charm!

Good luck.

Gentlemen:

I just purchased a 14MZ. The current firmware is 4.2, 1.0.5, and 1.13. I noticed that there are several updates. Do I need to update all or just the most current?

Thanks

You only need to install the latest -

[4.20(0)/1.1.0.1766/1.37] 2007-03-21-T14MZ_1766.zip

Hi, I have to say first that I found this forum very interesting and useful.

I have a 12Z which I just received from HK. The radio came in 72Mhz, which I wanted, but the number of available frequencies were restricted.. my previous 9Z had access to all the 72band, and this one was limited..

After playing a bit with it (I opened the box an hour ago), I upgraded the software to 1.37 and found (thanks to this forum) the service menu (good, no more need for a special connector instead of the campac module in the 9Z)

I then changed the area to Americas, finding it strange that I could not select 72mhz for Europe.. I am in Europe and 72 is allowed here.. (LO only) well, once in Area America, I have access to all 72 mhz frequencies, but, but, but, when I start the readio it says Mistatched RF module...

My module has a sticker CN on it.. which I believe means china..

I hope that there is a trick here to make the TX module international, and that I do not need to buy a new TX module for this brand new radio..

thanks in advance for your replies..

Wink

Papymouzot,
you don't need to buy a new module just to reprogram the eeprom.
Have a look at this file:
EDIT:
As requested by the moderator I deleted the link. It has already been done by WillJames but for any reason it came back and all the last messages concerning this link were removed too...
Sorry for those who were interested but you still can PM me.

It is a donkey or emule link if you don't know. I hope it is not forbidden here.
If you can't download it PM me.
Good luck!
