Angry Pulling My Hair Out

Hello All, I am a newbie with flying heli's so please bare with me. I received a Blade 120SR , with the RC that came with it (Blade MLP4DSM), a couple of years ago as a birthday present. I flew it a few times with little to no success. Back in the box it went until two weeks ago when I decided to check out this website to get so pointers about flying. Thus far, I have balanced (Center of Gravity) the heli, and set all of the trim controls to the "middle". The heli still does not hover. I know that there is a term that you use when you power up the heli, but don't let it take flight (scoll maybe), but when I do this the heli's tail comes up and it wants to drift hard to the left. Other than giving up on flying, does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do next? Thanks in advance.

1st. Make sure that the swashplate pin in the back is in between the "goal post" on the frame.

2nd, If it isn't carefully remove some dog links to give the swashplate some freedom and reposition the pin.

3rd. Po[ the rod on the right (looking from the rear of the 120sr) and adjust it about 3 full turns down. Be sure that you give it full turns. The rods only go on one way.

4th. Fly it and see if that helps. If it helps a little bit, repeat step 3 and fly it till you get a decent hover. Also, you are not flying high enough you are get rotor wash.

Let us know how it goes, please!

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Please read, A good place to start.
This will answer your left drift question, why it's drifting and how to deal with it.
https://www.helifreak.com/showthread...81#post3854881

MLP4DSM really is a terrible transmitter! See if you can find an old
LP5DSM, DX5 or better yet a good used DX6i.

This link will take you to 120SR Sticky. Give it a read.
https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=496890

Start at square 1.
Balance the blades as described in sticky.
Re install the blades not to tight. The blade grips need to be closed on the blades but the blades need to loose enough to move in the grips.

Feel free to PM me if you need.
Ron

Spend the $10 and get J. Salts E-Book on the 120sr/MSR/MSRX. It gives you the correct settings a mixes and explains in layman terms why! A lot of us here have it!

Are you putting in opposite movement to the right when it's moving left? Could you still be in the Heli's ground effect. It may feel like a leap of faith, but if you can pop it up about 2-3 feet you might get out of the ground effect and the 5-1 board that controls the heli can start to assist.

Like others have noted, the John salt book is a great assistance. Along with all of the knowledge and assistance from this forum. They have been helping me identify issues with my 120 and our DX6 Tx.
