I was way nervous when trying to fly planes a few years back and let them sit on the shelf. I stuck with helicopters. I can fly pretty good, inverted and all. This year I decided I wanted to get some 3D planes so I bought a 3DHS 65" Vyper and a 71" Slick. I wanted to stick to planes that used 6s 5000mah packs. I have to say all flying was pretty easy at this point. Landing was non eventful to say the least. Flying a really light wing loaded plane makes a huge difference, these are like large foamy planes. I haven't started too much on the 3D stuff yet but can do a bit of hovering up higher. 3DHS planes are just great.

Here is a picture of my 6s 71" Slick next to my 700E 3G Trex.

All I would tell you is just like helicopters bigger is always better if you can afford it.

Wow that plane looks sweet! Well I took off, flew some loops and rolls, and landed a plane (smooth with no bounce!) the other day and it was much easier than I anticipated. It was a Trojan T-28 foam plane that Slyster let me fly. I'm hoping that my Electrifly Cirrus SR22 Turbo will be just as easy to fly. I finished gluing the stabilizer to the tail last night. I still need to attach the elevator and rudder, install the motor and electronics, front landing gear, wipe on all the decals, then she'll be ready for the sky!

I can tell it's going to be fun having a plane or two but helicopters will still be where it's at for me. There's just something about helis that's a bit more exciting.

I have read the SR-22 needs lots of room to land, not sure if that's true though. Just wait till you get a 3D plank they are so much more fun then scale or sport planks. But helis are still 10x better lol.

I have an extra motor (Eflite Power 10) + electronics so I think I'm going to pick up another plane and throw these in. What plane would you guys put a Power 10 in? It looks like the Ultimate 20-300 10 was designed for this motor:

Availability says "Not for Sale". I wonder if they don't make these anymore.

I bought mine from ADC Hobby Shop. They are out of stok now though too. Ben (the owner of 3DHS) said they will be back in stock in April. They change the status to "not for sale" when they are not going to be doing a production run for a while. It's been "not for sale" for like a month though.

There is 1 or 2 more shops that might have them in stock though I'm not sure what the names of the other dealers are. Also check out the thread on RCG for lots of great info. Think it called "Awesome new v3 SHP". I post in it alot. There is also a great build video on page 6.

Cool...I'm not in any big hurry. I still have to finish my Cirrus, have a 700E scale to build, and have to repair my 550s!

so so true, I also started flying helis before planes ad I had to have someone walk me through landings due to obvious reasons. By the third time flying i was doing inverted on the plane which seemed to amazed people but it came easy.

I started with helis...been flying helis for 4 years and airplanes for 2 years. +1 on the 3DHS airplanes! I recently purchased my first 3DHS airplane, the 72" Extra 330SC. Below is my setup.

- Hacker A50-12L 348kv Motor
- APC 18 x 8E Prop
- Extreme Flight 3" Spinner
- Castle Creations Phoenix ICE 100A ESC
- Castle Creations BEC Pro
- Hitec HS-985MG Servos x 4
- Spektrum AR7600 Receiver
- Sky Lipo 8S 4000mAH 40C Lipos (2 - 4S 4000mAh lipos in series)
- Spektrum DX7 Radio

AUW - 10.14 lbs.

Below is a video of me flying the 330 in 20+ winds a couple of weeks ago. The takeoff was crazy...the wind was blowing 90 degrees across the runway from right-to-left and I forgot to give some left rudder. This resulted in the 330 nearly hitting the curb. However, as you can see, I had no problem launching the airplane into the air quickly. The 330 is an awesome flyer on 8S (3043 watts @ 104 amps WOT) and the Hacker motor is top notch! 300.09 watts/lb. is crazy power!

Man, you know, I really only want 1 airplane, and I really like the huge airplanes as planks don't have the same precense in the air as helis do, but damn, I could just not deal with having a huge plank showing up my heli on the flight deck.. I always get people coming up asking about my heli but they would just be talking about my huge plane. I think the 47" is a good size for me as it's not small but it still doesn't show up my heli.

I've been attempting helis for over a year. I crashed more than flew. Msrs to 500s in the fleet. Very frustrated.

A friend suggested the supercub on my phoenix. Wow, I can keep something in the air, fly circuits and land.

Bought a Night Vapor, a micro Champ is due tomorrow, and a Supercub Friday. What fun!

My friend Newheliguy will buddy box with me for the SC. Can't wait!

I just finished my Electrifly Cirrus SR22 Turbo! If we have good weather this weekend I think I'm going to try to fly this sucker without crashing

We (dad and I) maidened his last Sunday. It is a smooth flying airplane for sure, it's the only scale plane I'd consider myself just because of how sleek it looks. Had a less than beautiful take off, it had a left drift when rolling and when compensating (first mistake, should've adjusted front wheel to roll straight before making serious attempt to take off) it all of the sudden took my inputs and veered right pretty quickly and when I countered for that it turned almost 90° back to the left heading for the grass on the edge of the road. It got a slight hop (second mistake, should have throttled up here and salvaged the take off but..) and I chopped the throttle as it went into the grass. It wasn't a hard "wreck" but the quick stop from the grass pushed TH front wheel backwards and cracked the internal mount and such, it also halfway pulled the right wheel out the wing. Not to be stopped by a setback my dad threw caution to the wind and put the hammer down and did a short take off, flew for a second and gave it to me to try out and more importantly, land it for him. I was sure that the landing was going to break both damaged wheels off completely so I was extra gentle on the landing (luckily I'm very good at landing) and it was really quite a nice landing. You won't be disappointed with it for sure.

Tommy, I took the plunge too and bought my first plane. Tiny plane. Got the PZ sukhoi XP. It's foam and $100 so I wasnt afraid to fly it. And it's quick with rolls and all so it helps my reflexes. I put in about 2 hours of phoenix sim time over a week or two. Then bought the plane and flew it fine on the first maiden flight. Heli flying translates over to plane flying quite nicely. I may get something bigger like a stryker 27q or a 3DHS plane in the future. Good luck with the Cirrus
