Default Idea for Installing ESC

First post.

I’ve had my Nano CPX for a few months and honestly enjoy tinkering with it more than flying.

I’m toying with the idea of installing a brushless kit. I’m not confident to solder the signal wire to the ESC, but think I’ll be OK with the others. I was thinking of fitting a 1.27mm plug to the signal wire from the ESC and connecting it directly to the motor socket on the 3in1. Would this work?

This is the ESC I’m looking at:

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s..._ESC_3_0A.html

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...X_FBL100_.html

If so, would I connect to the +ve or –ve side of the motor. I assume the green painted side of the socket (on the 3-in-1) is the –ve????

Thanks

Hi, I'm not sure about the motor (it is for tail, if that's what you're after). The ESC is indeed in the supported list for BLheli :

You can check Dylan's site for the right combination and he can flash the ESC for the appropriate use :

Thanks

I've got no problem flashing the ESC myself, I'm just not confident with the signal wire soldering. I got the idea for plugging this into the motor plug from some of the P&P ESCs. For example:

Also, what do people think of this for a main motor, or is it cheap rubbish:

If you are able to solder the wires to the ESC to flash it, you'll have no problem with the signal wire soldering. The signal wire pad is a lot larger and you have more room to work compared to the flashing pads.

Many thanks NCcraig

I was planning to flash to BL Heli without soldering. I was just going to use the plugs already soldered on to these (or am I missing something?):

Yes you are missing something. Common misconception. The signal wire, positive and negative leads that are soldered to that ESC have nothing to do with flashing it. Those hook up to a receiver just like a bigger ESC to run a brushless motor. The flashing pads are three open pads on the interior of the ESC so you will have to do a bit of micro soldering.

Hi, if you look in the PDF file you'll see on each of the different ESC types, the little red, black and white circles. These are the three points you have to solder and connect to the USB flash stick.

These are not the signal points on the 3-in-1 board.

I believe this ESC has a plug (on the underside of the one that the photo is taken). This takes a plug similar to the servo plug :
http://www.wowhobbies.com/xp10aforup...brushless.aspx

With this you can solder a servo plug onto the flash stick and after that just plug it in if you want to flash. Remember to connect battery ...
