They seem to stick as well as anything else. I am just not too fond of them myself (personal preferance).
Paint is always an excelent option. |

too late now, at least with this one lol. should be flight ready this afternoon. building these things is a blast! i doubt i'll stop with this one, i've already got my eye on the multiplex twister, which is a bit bigger. this summer is shaping up to be a blast! all sorts of new toys. i should have some pics up this evening. thanks for all the advice guys, much appreciated.

so she is done! here's some pics as promised. i snapped a couple pics of the re-inforcements i did to the tail, per Squirrlybird's advice. all that is left to do is CG balance and it's flight ready. one question; what is the ballpark figure for the range i can expect on my futaba 6exh 72mhz? and for the 7c fasst? i installed the 72mhz rx in it for now, not wanting to buy another futaba fasst rx for $105, but if spread spectrum has a longer range i'll end up using that tx. i searched this forum and futaba's website with no luck, looking for that info. thanks in advance.

i also got rid of the z-bends at the servo horn in favor of a couple dubro micro ball link kits. those things are the greatest. much less slop now. i believe the test run to be this saturday, as the weather and work have made it impossible to get out.

well, scratch the f16. i tried to maiden it today, and all it took was one soft landing to smash it. i gave it around 80% throttle and threw it like i was supposed to. it started to take off nice, but then "stalled" or something like that. practically nose first into very soft and damp ground. the right wing broke off, but not at the epoxy seam it broke off right about at the center line of the bottom of the fusilage. this thing does not take much to break. i almost wonder if the glue i used weakened it, but i just used the 6 minute epoxy that was recomended and foam safe ca in a spot or two. it's very very weak apparently, and apparently can't take any sort of minor crash. not a first timers edf (are any edf's for first timers lol?) for sure. well, what to get next. i'm thinking the parkzone trojan t-28. i've heard good things about that.

oh by the way does anyone know of the kv rating of the motor that comes with this edf, and how many amps the esc that is included is rated for?

No clue on that but you'll like the Trojan. It flies nice.
I've been getting the plank itch lately.... I want to do some relaxing flying.

that's the whole reason i wanted a plank too, to actually relax while flying because heli flying is anything but relaxing lol. i got the edf sort of as in impulse buy, and it was pretty cheap. i have a feeling it would not have been very relaxing to fly though, too fast. i'll end up rebuilding it, only after i've been flying the trojan for a couple months.

Wow!
I have crashed mine nose first and I'm still flying it! It took 3 crashes to finish off my first one, but the last crash on that first one was a full throttle plow into the dirt. This jet really does glue back together fairly easily after a good crash. A buddy at the field has one that went in really bad (ripped off wing etc..), and he just used some 5 min epoxy to get it back together. It looks good as new too. I have also had some really hard landings with it and no issues. Sorry you had such a bad experience. Motor kv 5300 esc 25 amps (I am pulling a little over 30 through it no problem) The Trojan is a great little plane too. Much slower though. |

i don't think that gluing this together would have been an option. the break ripped out half of the fusilage (underneath) and it was anything but a clean break, unlike what phase 3 states. i was also under the impression this was something besides styrofoam, something a bit more sturdy. how does parkzone's "z-foam" and greatplanes's "aerocell" foam compair to the material of the phase3? i'll definitly keep the guts to this jet around, and rebuild it after i've had some actual stick time with the trojan. i fly the sim planes damn near perfectly, so i doubt it'll take long to get the feel for it, i just should have known better then to get a fast edf for a first plank.

Just being nosy, what kind of flight times are you getting out of one of these? Gotta be better than a Chopper?

with what, the edf or the trojan? i'm getting 10 minutes on the trojan with 2200mah packs. but i've got a very gentile flying style, most would say i'm a "*****" lol.

I set the timer on the F-16 for 5 minutes using 3s Kong 2200mah packs. Of coarse, I keep it wide the hell open for nearly the whole flight!
Loads of Fun! As far as flight times go, edf is not much different from heli. Jets are just simply hard on packs. My Kongs are standing up nicely though. Props are generally more efficient than ducted fans, so if you are looking for a good duration, then you probably shouldn't go with a jet. However, jets sure do have a cool factor (even when they are electric). |
