Did a maiden hover on the P500 I just picked up from the classifieds. My first 500 so it was a bit more intense than my other maiden flights lol. Really floaty and smooth compared to my other helis.

Everything went well thank goodness. Up the control rates and tail gain plus a couple more gentle tests and it should be ready to handle my handful of mediocre maneuvers just fine. Happy days....lol

Great to hear. From what I've read the p500 is a fantastic flier.

I have mine almost pieced back together. I broke the swash driver and you can't buy them separately. $50 for a piece of plastic!
I had to make a new style driver out of an old flybar pitch slider and some arms that I had in my spares.

Still a little fbl tweaking to do but really liking this heli so far. The slow mo, floaty feel is taking some getting used to after flying smaller helis at high hs but I'm enjoying it.

Lipotech motor that came with mine leaves a little to be desired but gets the job done okay. Other than that this baby rocks, definitely get me more flying days as it handles wind like a champ.

In finally got my Protos Max flying the way I want it last Sunday.

A comedy of errors, barely flying and my taking a couple months off without flying while I took care of other stuff delayed this quite a bit.

I had a receiver that was working go out on me.

I went out and the ESC didn't arm. I came back and updated the receiver firmware and then it armed ( but the receiver wasn't quite right )

On my next trip out it VIOLENTLY shook the swash on spin up so hard that the servo arms slipped ( but I didn't realize it at the time )

Next time out I had the reciever fixed but the heli was pulling aileron right and slight negative pitch bias.

I "assumed" wrongly that the FBL controller was out of level, so I re-calibrated the FBL. No go.

So I re-leveled the swatch and tried again last Sunday and Viola! it was flying smooth again.

So 4 trips to the airfield spread out over 4 months.

I realize I should have gotten this figured out sooner, but I was distracted and I just didn't focus on it much and I only touched one thing at a time when I should have done somethings together.

Meanwhile I was flying everything else I have when I did get out to fly. I've now flown the last 2 weekends in a row and I hope to pick things up going forward.

I have started to go out to the airfield with only 700's.

I got my tail pitch slider replaced, and everything set back up in the beastx. Get out maybe today or tomorrow to get her airborne again.

Was hoping to have the Brain2 by now, but prob better that I test it with the FBL that I'm used to.

I got her airborne again. 4 flights today. No crashes, but it looks like I will have to replace the tail control arm. It is flexing a lot, and seems to be preventing me from pirouetting against the torque during FFF.

I'm going to go back through the complete tail to verify, but I stumped a few people at the field with my failure.

Had to get as much right rudder travel as I possibly could to get good control in both directions. Also have the servo on the left side swung over towards right on about a 60° angle so the horn is almost facing upward when at center/ 90°

Puts the control rod on an angle but mine seems to work better like that. Fwiw, that's with a full size tail servo

I have enough travel to go stop to stop. I set my travel limits to about 1mm from binding. We thought the servo was squishy, but the servo itself is strong. The control arm twists under load, so that's why we are thinking it has become the weak link.

The tail actually has a lot of slop, and the servo isn't budging. Just the control arm is twisting.

I ordered a black one from Bill at Msh-direct. Looked like his last black one. Hopefully it won't need to be replaced again.

Got 7 flights in today. New parts worked great. Now it's time to setup the Brain2 on it and leave my AR7200BX behind.

How is your pirouetting against the torque? Did the Lynx arm fix it?

I didn't have a problem with the stock arm, and I still have no issues with the lynx. I run 510 degrees per second on the tail and I can reverse it back and forth in FFF without issue. Lots of noise and blade stall, but no issues

No it didn't. I reset my stops, and that seemed to fix it. I'm not sure where I went wrong when I initially set my stops, but redoing them solved the issue. The Lynx arm definitely reduced the slop in my grips though. Now I just get a slight bit of slop between the pins and the slider.

It's yesterday not today that I managed to spend some time to fly a good few packs in one afternoon. Before then it was usually 1 or 2 diagnostic flights for the day. Finally managed to narrow down the problem to some interference on the swashplate. The bird is flying good again.

I needed to test my new "cap-cam" setup with my new Turnigy 2k HD Actioncam. I modded it with an 8mm lens for longer reach for cap-cam use. I spent the day to test different FOV settings. Also able to put some stress flights on my 390+ flight old Nanotech 6S 25C 3000s.

My Stretched Protos Comparing T2k HD Cam Different FOV Settings (4 min 9 sec)

For full flight vids see the description on the youtube page.
