The Official mSR go to thread... Look HERE FIRST
The purpose of this thread is a sort of one stop resource to all of the threads started by our fellow helifreaks on modding the mSR. Weather its bling or performance oriented (or both), how-to threads, reviews or troubleshooting; basically anything that will help beginners and experts alike choose what upgrades to get or what mods to perform.
Please helifreaks, if you have a thread that you would like to add just post a link and I will edit this post if the thread is in fact worthy. No duplicates please, there is more then one thread on many subjects, I will do my best to select the best written and easiest to understand. If you feel left out then I’m sorry, please don’t take offense; not every mod ever done belongs here. For example: If you put decals on your rotors and you think it looks cool that’s fine, but it doesn’t necessarily belong in the ‘go to’ thread. Anyway, here goes… User-done performance-minded modifications: Here you will find threads with mods that are user-made and emphasize in increasing performance, some of these may be advanced. Note: Some of these may include ‘Frankenstein’ parts. <** Ok well now that EQ is not a helifreak anymore (and took almost all his info with him) I have work to do, bear with me guys this is gonna be a major PITA but I'll do my best**> EQMOD’s ‘true 90’ flybar https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=225900 N/A My CF swash ‘How-To’ https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=222350 Hydro_Pyro’s cut swash mod ‘How-To’ https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=230108 EQMOD’s feathering-shaft mod https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=209416 N/A Flybars: This falls into the above but there are so many ways to go I think it deserves a section of its own. Well... Since EQ packed up and left there goes half the info here. Guess I have a lot of work to do… C’mon EQ, did you have to take all your info with you, I mean I know its all yours and whatnot but couldn’t you just have left it up for the greater good. For the children man, for the children… and grown up children too.
Too bad too cuz I just started laying down my dual swash CP coax/heli plane design on the drafting board... Was going to start transferring it to CAD but I guess I gotta write a few how-to threads for the noobies first. I am truly heart broken…

I think he's ticked about Airhogs "stealing and commercializing" one of his mods in their new Helix 360 heli. I am thinking every new EQ-mod will have a "patent pending" label attached to it. It's on RCforums somewhere....

The xp motor upgrade is very nice, I can do write up for you if you want to include it in the mods section. I also did a custom swash that works very well, it's a combo of a stock short arm swash with the guts (bearing and upper swash) from a microheli se swash pressed into the stock short arm swash. I can do a write up on that one as well if interested. Here's a picture of the "Monster Mash" swash

Sure thing man, write them up and I will add them to the list... I'm gonna try that motor too but I really need a new 5 in 1 first cuz mine has a crack somewhere.
So that swash, should be nice as its light and throws are amplified with short arms and longer studs... can you do a comparison vid?

Could any one tell me where I could get the tiny bright lights that are shown on hydro pyro's MSR in the ultimate mod thread?

Re-released mSR
I was just looking through this thread, acquainting myself with the mSR I purchased at my LHS yesterday. I noticed a comment about TBE and a " swash plate calibration" mentioned as being in the owner's manual. No mention of that in my owner's manual. I did notice some bobbing and weaving in hover if I take my hand off the right paddle - is that TBE - I assumed is was just the gyro and the hell balancing itself. Does not happen all the time so it may have been random air currents.
Moved up from an mCX trying to learn enough to fly my 120SR better. So far quite happy with the improvement over the mCX in handling and accuracy of movement. Obviously new to helis. And having a blast! |
