Im just not friends with the gyro in my 450, I put about 10 packs through it today, on pack nr 5, gyro acted up (again) slow spoolup, slightly faster, hit max headspeed, short test, tail is ok, get up 3 feet, then heli starts to piro... somehow I managed to land it on the ASPHALT perfect, with 0 damage... unplug/plug battery again, gyro all fine again. I'm *very* careful not to move heli after battery is plugged in, and very careful putting on canopy.... its just weird!
have you guys messed with your gyro gains? in HH mode I get tail shakes at fast sideways flight and some harder manovers. on a positive note, we tried a new field today, its not very deep, but over a mile each way to the side, so in dive to FF modes, I beat a lot of my friends planes, for speed across the flats!

6th flight with the scale 500e fuselage from Align. Easy to install, no inverted flight with it yet... still working on that with the mcpx 2.

Flew 3 packs with the 450 doing some fff. My mcpx has taught me so much and it translates very nicely to the 450.

Flew 2 packs tonight, first time since crash 2 weeks ago. Tried out some FG blades everyone is talking about, work fine. Also tempoarily mounted my HD keychain camera tonight for my second flight. Found out I have a wicked vibration - camera gets double vision at IU, but that is soo cool to see from the heli's perspective.. I have some adjustments to do, drifts right and back pretty good (even with a near perfect swash setup). Once I get that sorted out I should be able to get some decent hover video.

Just received 3 Solar D654 servos to replace my stripped stock servos. Haven't installed them yet but they appear to fit without too much trouble. Should test them out tomorrow.

I am still in the process of dialing it in so I only have a pack through it just hovering but they don't fly any differently than the stock servos. One thing I did differently than stock was I put the links on the inside of the servo arms. I first tried putting them on the outside but they weren't parallel with the frame. I took a picture to show this.

I think the bearing in my motor went today...
I'd been hearing an unidentified noise for a few days and seeing black powder on my main gear. Today the noise got a lot louder on my third pack, so I landed and found a partially stripped main gear and found the pinion on the motor had a slight lateral movement. I checked everything except the motor, it seems... Little bit annoyed considering I've done less than 100 flights... |

Made some adjustments since my last build, flew with great results. Had an audience, so no tinkering other than the first adjustments. Hovered great, slow 5mph winds so I could keep a steady hover with no movement for 20 seconds at a crack! Did mostly side in hovers with thoughtless tail recovery and little forward flight. No full circles yet, working on that with the sim.
Can't wait for the long weekend! |

Still haven't flown the 450 yet, but finally got my Gens Aces in the mail. Went to solder on an EC3 and learned that I have a lot to learn about soldering! A bit different than what I used to do on tiny circuit boards...

today.. I CRASHED IT! first time... damnit! gyro acted up during piroflip, tail went shit, heli went inverted when it wasnt supposed to, lost all control, managed to get it "right way" and aaalmost save it before hitting ground.
aftermath, 1 framfoot needs glue new blade grips, 3 new servos (or gears if I can get parts at lhs) new boom flybar paddles/rods mainblades stripped out gears I "landed" it 100% straight, but at a to high decent rate, at 2-3 feet above, I hit hold, but was tooo late. sad part is aI had another airframe laying around, but sold it as I "never crashed it"

Awesome evening of flying! Beautiful weather! So I flew 10 batteries. Starting to get the feel of what to expect . Did some hard bank turns faster and faster, tried to make them nice and smooth. Rebuilt motor shaft and new Boca bearing seem to be real good.Found out one of my batteries is no good. could hear the motor just kind of went sick when I went to idle up.BB gun practice I guess. I,m starting to really like this hobby, for a while I didn't think I would ever catch on to controlling something that wants to go every which way very quickly. but maybe theres hope for me yet. Finding some of the movements are coming natural, don' have to think about it first. Does that mean I'm on my way?
