T-rex 250 DFC RTF 3D Setup?
Bought my first real heli this summer, T-rex 250 DFC RTF. Super happy with it and have spent countless hours in the air.
Thanks to youtube, i am now set on learning every 3D move I have just bought Heli X to keep the crash cost a bit lower. The problem is after using Heli X for som time, is i feel that my 250 in real life is way to slow when flipping and in fast moves. In the sim its no problem, the heli flips pretty fast and no problem doing it close the the ground and other moves that need the heli to respond fast. If i try at flip as fast i can in real life, the 250 takes about 2-3 seconds to do a full flip in either way. It feels like the servos are moving way to slow. I wont even call it flips, just REALY tight loops I havent done anything with the setup, as it was rtf when i bought it. I have spent most of my time flying and not learning setup. I see a lot of people talking about expo and d/r. My d/r is set at 0, and expo at +30%. But lowering the expo wont make the heli "snappier" right? It just makes it more responsive at middle stick? I feel pretty stupid, but what am i missing? I see in youtube videos that people are doing full 3D with the 250 so i know it should be possible |

Yes, lowering the EXPO can make it feel snappier because it tends to make it feel like deadband.

What FBL controller are you using? Its not the servo speed that will be slowing it down, but more likely the FBL settings.
If you're running the default 3GX, the settings out of the box are fairly docile to keep it a little calmer for beginners. I forget the name of the setting, but there's basically an advanced menu where you can increase the aileron and elevator roll rates. Edit: Here, take a look at this video, if you have a 3GX it should help 3GX Version 3 - The Flight Mode Menu:

This reminds me of when I tried flipping my Trex 150 with out of the box settings. The roll rate was full soft and it took seconds to flip and did it in a big arc. Talk about a crash waiting to happen.
Make sure the Roll Rate dial is at 12 O'Clock. Good starting setting. |

Thanks guys
I didnt quite understand that everything has to adjusted through the fbl system. Thanks to you and some searching today, i found out that my 3gx mrs has a roll rate pot meter I will adjust it to 12 o`clock this weekend and see what happens. |
