Unhappy Walkera 43b not flying high enough

hey guys

i have had a walkera 43b for around 1 year now. i havent used it in ages and thought i d give it a go the other day.

unfortunately it will not hover higher than around 3 feet above the ground! is this due to a battery issue or motor?

it would be disappointing if it was the motor as this heli has hardly flown at all really.

thanks!

Sounds like a battery, but it's no big deal if it's the motor. (probably costs less than the battery, if it's brushed!)

It wouldn't surprise me if it was the motor or battery... if the motor sits idle for a long time, the brushes will oxidize and significantly reduce the efficiency. Give a good squirt of WD-40 in the hole on the side of the motor and see if you notice any improvement.

Default Not motor

I had the same issue last week. Replaced the motor and the heli flew fine for about 10 minutes and then the same happens again. Only few inches above ground and it won't go higher.

It is brushed version but I cannot imagine it is again the motor?

Did you manage to have yours up and flying again?

Default Not motor

I had exact the same issue last week. Only flying few inches up.
Replaced motor and all was OK and flying like new. But after 1-2 charges problem came back. Taking off and stops at only few inches.
Can't beleive it is the motor again giving up after just 10 minutes?

Did you guys find a proper solution?

FYI mu heli is brushed motor.

Could be that you got a bum motor... they are really cheaply made... 90% sure it is either the motor or the battery.

Does the motor feel hot to the touch?

hey all,

i have actually tried spraying into the motor and ordered new batteries. Doesnt make a difference.

Since others seem to be having the same problem I am leaning towards the "get what you pay for" theory and assuming that the motor has given up the ghost.

I am looking at upgrading to something a bit bigger on 6 channel. I guess this one will just go back into the box unless someone else can resolve

Thanks for all the comments

Well if the batteries and motor are out of the question, you can take a look at your main gear meshing with the motor pinion (you should have a piece of paper between them when you tighten the motor) make sure the main gear is not spinining on the main shaft (make sure the pin is still there) last check the head is not bent out of wack.
There's really nothing else to check, it should fly... one last thing, how many different motors have you tried?
