Remove the prop adapter.
If you want a pull start, then you remove the nut over the flywheel and install a pull start dawg , adapter plate, and pull start. If you want the heli airfilter, then add that step in as well. The carburetors are slightly different, but yours will work just fine. The primary coil is on the airplane engine is gray, the heli is red, either will work just fine in a heli. The engine itself is identical to the heli version, with these minor accesory differences.

if they are the older g23 not the 231 they are prone to overheating if pushed but they are the same basic engine for the pu ,pum and puh. if you have any ? shoot me an email. Peace, Al

That one is REALLY old!! I would suggest that while you could probably make it work, you would be better off in the long run to get one of the more updated engines, the G231 or G26.
Toxic Al can CERTAINLY help you with that.

pantera 50 gasser
al is there any way to pull more power out of my kalt 22.
i don't know what carb i have there are no #s on mine but it runs ok i have changed my gear ratio from stock 12 tooth pinion to a 14,15. the 14 tooth makes the best head speed with less bog over my 15 tooth but i still get bogging with heavy cyclic inputs can this engine make more power by porting and polish or do i need to just change it out with a 26 |

Mods can be made to the old Kalt/Zenoah 23's, but with more output comes more heat potential. The older 23's had more rings (more friction/drag) and much less cooling fin area. These motors also only had a single transfer port where all of the new versions have dual transfer ports to the top of the piston area.
The power gain from one of the older model 23's (and the mods were sucessfully done) did not really overcome the less cooling capability and lesser potential for additional output BIGRCR-John Garst
