I flogged the heli as hard and as continuously as I could during this flight today. Used about 72% capacity of my 6S 1300mAh 35C pack in this 2-minute flight - not counting spool up and hover to land.

3,100 head speed governed Set RPM, 8 pwm, Low timing.

This motor puts out some serious power!

Default Tuning the Warp with Castle logs

Ok so I am going to scorpion motor too. What was the verdict here on it? 16t or 17t? Lol going with a similar setup as you bob.

Now wondering also if the thing will need a bec as the Phoenix edge comes inbuilt with 5A out bec

Nice one Bob, I hope you apologized to your heli afterwards.

Those are 62mm Ecopower blades from Amain. I got a few sets last Christmas on sale for like 3 or 4 dollars/pair. They fly great, and they are a bit noisy so they make the Warp sound like a little Banshee!

The Scorpion on 16T is very nice too. IMO it comes down to two things....what head speed you want to govern at AND your flying style.

3,200 RPM is about max (on Castle) for the 17T pinion and hard 3D. I'm governed at 3,100 on 17T.

16T is basically a little less power hungry, 100 RPM less head speed on the top end.

As far as a BEC, I think most will say that the built-in one isn't sufficient. I've never tried the one in my ICE Lite 50A. I'm using a Western Robotics High Current BEC rated at 5A continuous. I have it set at 5.9V, and I've never seen it drop lower than 5.2V during a flight.

I'm headed out in a bit to grab a couple of flights.

I pulled the Scorpion last night to replace a worn out motor belt, and decided to try the stock motor (updated can) with 18T pinion. I'll post a log later today with the results.

This was all I could squeeze out of the stock motor today. New can, 18T pinion, 3,100 head speed Set RPM, Pwm 8, Timing low. This motor is powerful, but definitely not AS powerful as the Scorpion. Maybe it has better performance on a different ESC, or 100% flat ungoverned. I'm anxious to see if the power delivery/output is better on the Vortex E-gov, which I'll try as soon as it comes out.

Would you get more if you turned the timing up Bob?

825 is pretty good power to be sure...

No, I tried Mid timing today and there was no difference. I tried Mid and High timing earlier this summer without getting an actual increase in power, only a difference in how it felt.

I'm going to stick with the stock motor for the rest of the season. I'm going to put Boca orange seal bearings in the Scorpion for next year. There's a lot of belt dust/debris in the motor right now that I have to get cleaned out of there before putting new bearings. The plus side of the stock motor is not having to lube the bearings.

And is a bit lighter too, cooller running.
It is also efficient, it's not everyday you see a small motor with single strand copper wire.
