Default Tail rotor scare

i was flying my n9 this morning and during a hard climbout the tail started spinning on its own round and round about 3 times slowly. during this spin i could clearly hear some light squeeks coming from the heli. iv got a jr 770 gyro that has always performed flawlessly so i dont think it was a holding issue. can anyone tell me what happened? iv got a little experience with helis but have never had this happen before. something tells me it has to due with the torque tube. Thanks Dan

turns out the tt is slipping slightly when under load. New Hyperformance hyperdrive ordered. there that fixes that . check your tt collar tightness, check it often, the stock setup works well but has more parts than it needs with too many small set screws to strip and loosen up. ill post performance update after a few flights

Good choice, both of my N9's have them.

Good choice is right. You will love the hyperdrive. It's arguably the most innovative tail drive system around. It runs super smooth and extremely easy to service and install. I remember assembling the stock torque drive system when I was building my n9 and thought I would just save the money first and then later upgrade to the hyperdrive. After discovering how frustrating the stock system is and how many different parts it contains I gladly paid for the hyperdrive and haven't looked back since.

770 gyro does not allow for start/ stop delays... will put an aweful lot of stress on a 90 sized heli when doing fast piros, piro reversals, or hard stops if you do not have this configured.

GY611, spartan, GY520, Curtis solid G, etc all have this feature as its fairly common to add this setup on a .90 sized torque tube tail...

just a thought (hate to hear of stripped tail gears...)
