I just posted a pic of my winterized 450 and couldn't resist one of my pretty much stock 300 with just a little very light color added with plasti dip. I keep this bird cheap but visable for now. Loc tite motor and zip tie mod and a nitro fuel line over the bx and frame stiffener by lynx w blades and it's pretty cheap and I've never had the right roll.

I kinda like that. Care to elaborate on how it was done?

I'm not sure if it's what he did here, but one easy way would be to use Monokote Trim sheets. (Jet White: TOPQ4104)

I did that on my birds with neon colors, but only the back part of the boom for orientation.

Old picture, but it had the monokote on it...

So how do you get that stuff under all of the clamps?

I suppose you would just wrap it before installing the clamps. Or you could be real meticulous and cut strips exactly the right length to fit between the clamps. That's the approach I took.

You can see in this picture of my 450X that I left a little gap there to allow the boom clamp to still slide fore and aft for belt tension adjustment.

It's really simple!
I have painted the tail boom with a white acrylic coat and finished with a acrylic clear coat.

That`s cool ,I painted one one time and ran into a to much thickness problem at the frame end.One question..does it still fly ok with that ding in the boom?

Yeah, that was the product of an unfortunate incident involving a boom strike caused by a failed servo on takeoff. It dinged it a little bit, but it's not very deep. It's definitely not enough to affect the structural integrity or the flight characteristics in any way. I've flown it for months like that. I actually have some spare booms, but I haven't been ambitious enough to switch it out just for that reason.

Well that`s good.I did the same but it was from one of those elcheepo china blades i bought in mass quantity, ( supposed to have been fiberglass but was just gel coated woodies ) one blade blew out of the holder soon as i hit iu. I had to replace mine. Used almost full right rudder to keep it straight. Made a good fire with the rest of them!

I know this is probably a little out of place being the 300X forum. But check it. You guys inspired me to try out a white boom using Monokote on the X5. I'm not sure if I like it yet. What do you think?

I think that sitting on your coffee table it looks bad ass. I would worry that it will disappear in the air though. I'm interested to hear what the vis is like real world.

I hear that. It's something that has surprised me in the past how well jet white stands out contrary to what I assumed. I'll let you know how it goes. At least the beauty of monokote is that you can peel it off if you don't like it.

Nelson i think the white looks awesome on the X3, theres another X3 all painted like that also but with the frame n all white too. Considered doing white myself but with winter coming everything is gonna be white so i'll wait till spring to try.

Great day at the field today! Here are couple shots of the 300x. I was able to get 17 packs total through the 450x and the 300x!
