So now I dont not know what to do, im stumped!
I ordered an ar6200 receiver and satellite combo binded the combo to my DX7, and then hooked the satellite only up to the zyx-s, set the zyx-s to dsm2-1, all i get is solid lights on the zyx-s, push the set button and it goes solid red? also tried the bind procedure with the new dsm2 satellite same result as above. Has anyone got an old dx7 to work with satellite? |

The Dx7 will not work with DSMX. DSMX will work with a DX7s.
I have used DSMX sat & a DSM2 on the ZYX-s. I couldn't ever bind per the digram. I bind the model to the rx with sat then plug up to the ZYX-s. If you have the Tarot box with the latest firmware on it you can pick the sat until the light goes from blue to red. If not try DSM2-2 that worked on mine. Also DXMX-2 worked too. The other ones didn't. Mine works just as good as my 3GX. Love them both. Hope this helps. |

Ok so the DX7 does work on a satellite only, finally got it working...!
what ended up working for me was to reset the model in my tx, bind the tx with a full dsm2 reciever and satellite, then hooked up the just the satellite as per the tarot diagram, had to use the set button to get a solid light, connected, went into setup, selected dsm2-1, went thru the rest of the setup and advanced setup ( That was with the tarot 3.0 software) unplugged it, plugged it back in, it initalized, blinked 3 times and now I have a solid light and can connect and have full response from my heli! Im not 100% sure but I tried this same method and others 100 times using the fbl.net software and it didnt work, finally figured out how to assign my usb port and used the tarot 3.0 software and worked the first time. so keep that in mind. When finally getting everything going I was able to connect to fbl.net software and use that software to change/resetup the heli because I didnt like that the tarot software didnt have numbers listed for the servo trims just blue bars, ect... |

Decided to go FBL on my 450 Sport. Had one of those HK Orange7 channel satellites and a ZYX Tarot 3.5 with USB dongle and Satellite cable so.. spent about two hours working on it and here's how I got it to work every time.
1. Download ZYX USB drivers and install. 2. Download ZYX config software and unzip to your favorite folder. Run config software (ZYX3.0EN.exe in my case). (don't leave first screen yet) 3. locate 5v source such as an ESC and battery. (battery disconnected for now) 4. Connect satellite cable to satellite receiver. 5. Plug satellite cable into ZYX at RUD port. 6. Plug ESC into another port on ZYX such as Ch 4 (battery not connected yet) 7. Take one male to male jumper and connect to AIL port and the multi port on ZYX. "bind" plug so to speak. 8. Have radio ready, powered off. 9. Connect battery to ESC. LED on receiver should start flashing fast, waiting for bind. 10. Turn on radio in bind mode (DX7, press bind button on back and power up radio). 11. Receiver goes through bind procedure and LED on receiver goes solid. 12. Disconnect battery from ESC, remove "bind" plug from ZYX, remove ESC from ZYX. 13. Connect ESC on AIL port on ZYX. 14. Connect USB dongle to USB port on ZYX and plug into computer. 15. Make sure radio is still powered on. Connect battery to ESC. 16. LEDs on ZYX should all be on. Push and hold "SET" button on side of ZYX until LEDs go off and then one LED is on. Either red or blue, depends on what gyro mode it's in. 17. Receiver LED should be solid. 18. Click "Connect" button on the software. Three red fake LEDs on software just above "Connect" button should go green after a few seconds. 19. Click on "Setup" button to bring up setup screen. Click "Next" after reading the setup for the radio. 20. In the upper right corner of the next screen (shows hookup diagram) drop down the box and select "DSM2-1". 21. Diagram on screen will change to the satellite setup. 22. Click "Next" to get to radio subtrim and ATV setup screen. Move a stick on the radio to see if the ZYX is reading the receiver. Should be golden now!! James Files: http://jamesholbrook.com/ZYX3.0EN.zip http://jamesholbrook.com/usbdrivers.zip Last edited by JamesDHeli; 10-28-2012 at 12:07 AM.. Reason: Add links to software. |

Hallo to all !
As i am not sure which cables i will receive with my ZYX unit i have one question about the male to male jumper cable as described in procedure from "JamesDHeli", post #26 ... (the "bind" - plug so to speak) I saw the illustration of the cable being connected to the ZYX (bridging AIL port and the multi port on ZYX) but could not see how many wires the jumper cable itself is using. So my question is: Does this jumper cable has all 3 wires between its two male connectors (or just 2 or 1) ? If it uses for example all 3 wires: Are they crossed in any way or are thy going throug 1 to 1 ? Thanks for your support. |

I have the ZYX-S and I'm currently using the AR6200 full receiver with the satellite. My TX is a DX6i. Will satellite only work with the DX6i, and if so, what do I need to change in my TX to set it up for satellite only? The guy in the posted video was using a DX7.
How much power do you save by going satellite only? I guess you eliminate about 10g of weight, plus whatever the wires between the RX and ZYX-S weigh. It would be a much cleaner install without all those wires to stuff in the back of the helo. Is it worth sacrificing the radio redundancy of RX with a satellite? I fly my other 450 clone with only an Orange RX 610, and it's never failed me after dozens of flights so far. Never show any weird behavior that might indicate a loss of signal. |

Tarot ZYX-S satellite
Other guys have used a DX6i. I think so. I texted my buddy that used to have a DX6i. I'm waiting his answer. I could have I set his up that way. Before he got his DX7s. Let y'all know. Old age is catching up.

I knew I wasn't going crazy. When my buddy had his D6i he used a sat. Which sat are you using the X or the DSM2?

You will need the step down cable to hook up just the sat.

Anyone taken that satellite cable apart to see what's in the black junction between the satellite connector and the one that plugs into the ZYX-S? Wonder if you could just make one using the satellite cable that connects to the AR6200 RX and cut the plug off of an old dead servo and solder the wires together, and cover the joint with heat shrink tubing.
