Default Cycling lipos

Would cycling new lipos be a good idea? If so how many times should they be cycled and what kind of amp draw should I put on them? I've got 3 new batteries, 2 5000 mha 45c and 1 4000 mha 45c. I also have a new system I would like try out to.

New lipos should always be broken in. 5 cycles from storage level to full. I just use the charger. Some fly short easy flights. To make is quick and easy, I always buy lipos in pairs and use one to power the charger for the other. Otherwise chargers (for 6s5000s) are just way too slow on the discharge end.

Ok thanks. I just got a PL8 and I believe I can set the amp draw. Just wondering what I should set the discharge at.

It has a 100W internal discharge limit. So if you're just discharging by turning the energy into heat, 100W will give you a 4A discharge on 6S.

Now, if you power the charger from a battery or batteries, you can regeneratively discharge from the LiPo into the battery powering the charger.

No rules really, but for brand new packs I do 5 cycles and generally do the first charge/discharge at .5C.. then the next three at 1C and the last at 2C.

From then on I charge always charge packs at 3C (15A per 6s5000mah connected) since I only field charge.. that way I can fly all day with just 2 packs (per heli)

I always do about 5 gentle flights to breakin lipo’s, cycling them on a charger is wasteful. Lipo’s have a limited amount of cycles, why not just use it to learn or do some gentle stuff instead of wasting those cycles.
