Default Trex XL HDE Build Videos will be here!

This post will contain the Trex HDE build videos.
These videos are a COMPLETE step by step build of the Trex XL HDE kit. I started this a month ago or more and just have not had tme to compile the steps I already shot as well as finish shooting them.

But I will post them here as I add them.

Enjoy!
Bob

HDE Build Overview
Trex XL HDE Kit and Tools Overview (10 Megs)

HDE Build Steps 1 through 3 - Head and Seesaw
Trex XL HDE Steps 1 through 3 (24 Megs)

HDE Build Step 4 - Flybar cage and Flybar
Trex XL HDE Step 4 (24 Megs)

HDE Build Steps 5 through 8 - Washout, Swash, and Head
Trex XL HDE Steps 5 through 8 (24 Megs)

HDE Build - Frames and Mechanics
Trex XL HDE Frames and Mechanics (58 Megs)

HDE Build - Installing the Motor and Adjusting the Pinion

NEW 6/12/06 I am really sorry I could not do this with servos and go through the thing perfectly. This is a QUICKY ad-hoc vid on setup for HDE and I did this because many have asked for help. I PROMISE I will replace this with the complete and proper video when I get a chance

HDE Build - Servo / head setup QUICKY
Trex XL HDE Quicky servo/head setup overview (19 Megs)

Sorry but I will finish these as soon as I can!

Bob

Sure, now you put these up so I can second guess myself. Already know I need to snug up the flybar frame and CA the paddles.

Wish I'd had these a couple weeks ago, but at least I have the chance to check everthing. You are so awesome. Thanks again.

Hehehehe.... Sorry I actually have had these for awhile but with all I had to deal with over the last 3 weeks I just did not have the time to assemble them...

I truely am having fun doing these but I cant seem to get them out fast enough! You people really suck up the info faster than I can do them!

Your ALL are a very good classroom

No problem. You've still got two days to get the frame assembly vid up Oh yeah, then there's the belt tensioning, electronics placement, etc., etc. We'll keep you busy if you let us.

Hi Bob,

I just want to say thank you for all the videos, i was just wondering, would you be doing one exclusively for the Trex XL CCPM (CDE)?

cheers

Yes but it will be a ways off I think....
However MOST of my videos for the SE will cover setting that one up for the head and radio. Servo mounting is different but if you set it up from theswash up all will be the same.

Anyway, I will be doing a segment on CDE but not a complete build since the frames are same as the XL HDE and setup is like the SE. The segment will cover servo install and setup.

tnx for the quick reply Bob.

i already have all your videos, so i guess i'll just use them and wait for the ccpm setp vids. thanks again, theyr'e awesomely helpful...the manual is good but it's better if there's someone explaining it and showing it at the same time, especially for users like me.

Now installing the motor might make sense. I knew you had that vid stashed somewhere. Thanks

bob, i just watched the complete HDE videos. Man, I'm telling you, this is my 1st heli and I was daunted when I was reading the manual coz of all the small parts!!! way harder than a plane.

it's a good idea to have the manual in front of you while watching your vid and taking some notes down, especially the stuff about "this part goes has a specific orientation and would screw the setup if you put it in the other way, etc"

it's so helpful as just reading the manual, those things are so easy to miss just by looking at the pics..but your vids are so detailed they practically explain everything!!!

Thanks a million mate, you're one heck of a helpful guy.

now looking forward to the rest of the CCPM build

Thank you Bob for these videos. My sons earned a Trex for graduation. I'll be sure to include a copy of your videos for him.

Hi Bob
Hello from downunder. Your build vids are very impressive not only from an information point of view but also are presented very well. I have worked as a TV producer/director for many years and wonder if you have had any experience in this field?? If not, I believe that Stanton CA stands to gain a new weatherman or perhaps News Presenter!!
May I also ask if there are any learn to fly tutorials available on the net either by you (hopefully) or someone else?
Thanks again
Mike

Hi Skipper..... Thanks for the complements... I have done some classroom teaching for the company I work for but that’s it.... It would be cool to be News man I have always been a techie type though......

I have started experimenting with flying videos both live and in the field and using the Sim. They are in my Forum here. I need to work on improving these.

Cheers Finless
and I see you are part of the sailing frat! Good on you! if you ever come to the great barrier reef near the whitsunday islands, bring your heli with you and we can use the deck of my boat for a heli pad!
If only heli flying was as simple as sailing!?!?
