More reliable phasing? The only thing I've seen on the Compass heads is the tube being off slightly causing phasing issues. Other than that I dunno.

I think you nailed it there Danny. I can't imagine 7Hv flying any better, but if it does I'm down.

New Head?
Sex with a bear!? That's just wrong. Personally i like to call it dropping anchor in poo bay......... Eg " I have had a wonderful evening darling. Perhaps we might retreat to the bedroom as I feel it is time to drop anchor in poo bay"
A lot of top pilots are saying they prefer the wash follower arrangement over compass/dfc although no one I know of has been quoted as saying that they can tell the difference. Seems like a perceived issue off inaccurate phasing under high loads. its a new fad or trend which compass are filling to keep up this the market. The last episode of smack talk went into this with a prediction that the hole market will move away from compass/ dfc style head towards wash follower/something else styles. I can't see an issue but until I try a wash follower ill reserve the right to change my mind! Poor poor Winnie! You'll be after Eeyore next !

A buddy of mine has been machining aluminum rods for the FBL links and providing them to some pilots who were complaining of the phasing. Wilson Miller is one of them and he reported that the new rods completely solved the issue for him. My buddy isn't interested in making it a business though, just helping out friends, but I'm sure some other enterprising individual could make a business out of it.

Re: New Head?
a warp style head would be cool.

And more than a little bit scary on a 700. Not sure the design would scale up well.
I can see it on a 500 but not bigger.

I was thinking of it the other day. I think true 500 is as big as you could go with CF blade retainers. Problem is you need the CF for the flapping... or a hybrid that has a dampened spindle.

Re: New Head?
My buddy has been flying since the 70, s he said there was a 700 that had a head simular to the warp at one time and it worked very well but it never got popular, seems kind of scarry to me. I wiuld think at the heas speed people run these days blades would go flying

I think head speed is the key, these days the "norm" on a 700 is 2100, back a few years you'd think 1900 was nuts.
R90 was and maybe still is running plastic grips... crazy I know

I'd never put a aluminum "dfc" link on a 700. As far as I know geometry is the same as the current head so it won't be any faster. Just a option for people that want a regular head. The new head looks very cool though. still very much compass styled.

I see nothing wrong with plastic grips or carbon fiber grips on a 700. Remember that the blades are carbon fiber as well and they don't seem to explode.
However, a fully rigid head like what is on the Warp might not work so well with the extremely stiff blades that are common today. As with most things, it just has to be engineered thoughtfully and carefully.

Isn't the TDR a rigid head?

The TDR head is not fully rigid and is able to feather. I actually downloaded the TDR manual a while back to see how the head was designed.

New Head?
I saw another option to the new head at helimasters this weekend. Sebastian showed me what I can only describe as a monster delrin version of the currant set up. It was white in colour for the purpose of testing to see cracks, production ones will be black.
It was chunky at the top and thinner near the bottom. I didn't get any pics I'm afraid.

New Head?
I interpreted it as the links being beefier.
