I tend to agree wth you there...sound wise too...22T pinion has a very different sound and feel compare to the 24T pinion...well thats how I feel about it.

I considering going back to 22T as well...1880 RPM is more than enough for me. Anything more is a waste of flight time and energy IMO

Mine are not bent and on the lighter side for these blades 229-230g each rather than the advertized 245g. I still need my 500g 0.01g accuracy scale to arrive so I can balance them before I put them on the Banshee.

I'm also going to do some vibration analysis on the tail with the Rotortech blades. I expect that the vibs will drop because of the lighter tail blades.

I got both sets today no bow that i can see. Both weigh 232g ea.

My rotortech 115mm and 95mm are only .1g difference from each other i wonder does drag play moremof a role?

Are you having some tail vibe issues in your Banshee?

I did some testing earlier with the KBDD blades which are noticably heavier in the larger sizes and I found that heavier tail blades even when they are perfectly balanced throw higher vibrations. I suspect that they amplify any imperfections.

So as I'm starting to increase my head speed I was thinking that I would do what I could to reduce tail blade weight just to keep things as smooth as possible.

I understand that the Rotortech tail blades are noticably lighter than anything else out there. Banshee even recommends them and mentions their light weight.

Yes, I have noticed that different tail blades act differently at higher RPM. Out of the ones I tested the Rails seem to behave the best, though I have not tested the Rotortech tails.

From the Banshee manual

Tail rotor blades
Rotortech 95 -120 mm (light-weight)
1000-1900 RPM (3D): 105-120 mm

1900-2100 RPM

(Extreme 3D): 105 mm
2100-2300 RPM (High-Speed): 95 mm

I'm going with 105's for now. I'm not going over 2100rpm at the moment.

I've got Radix 105's on there now and they working well, but I'm still going to spin it up on the bench to 2100 rpm and see with kind of vibrations I get from the tail.

FWIW the plastic tail blades were a few grams heavier and while perfectly balanced increase the tail vibrations by 50%. So I'm hoping with tail blades a few grams lighter than I can see the change in the other direction.

This is somewhat academic, but I'm just measuring the differences before I crank it up to 2300 rpm.

Today my daughter started to make blade cozies for my Speed blades.

I'm really not sure how I feel about that and I'm not sure what they will look like, but I'll definitely take a picture of them so you can see what she came up with.

Using my 9352hv futaba servos on 7.4v on kosmik bec it comes with 4 flash error upon landing (bec too hot) didnt think much of it until tictocs and heli went crazy! Like partial reset but not enough to repower vbar.

Im now a buffer man for servos quicker than .1 and 12kg

You could always go with a BEC rated for 50A.

I kind of like the idea of being able to easily visually inspect your ESC to motor connections.

Did you just put shrink wrap over the canopy brace hoping it wouldn't short the motor wires in a crash?

It must be that time of the month... No motivation to use my simulator, fix a broken heli, go to the airfield or even put the speed blades on my Banshee...

I guess I'll have to give it a week before I sell off all my equipment

Today the banshee and the TDR got some air. It was a lovely day here in the UAE with a little cross wind. One of the RC guys at the club had a GPS with him, and so it was decided to see what these helicopters actually can do.

Any way it was quite funny hearing everyone in the back ground placing bets to see who gets the closest. The Banshee was first on the stage and I knew today I need to give it her all so cracked her up to 2000RPM. 4 min flight time and I had to come in and land. i felt quite confident with the performance and everyone placed their bets in the ball park of 220KM/h....well they asked me what I think and I just said im hoping for 180km/h. Obviously every one changed their bets due to my comment - was quite funny.

Well to my utter amazement the figure was revealed to be a wopping 165km/h......I was like WHAT!!!! Serious!!! That it. Quite disappointed and really if felt and looked faster.

Da,n can you imagine how fast and how good the speed pilots must fly then? I was shaking in my pants during my flight, it was really not as easy as it looks.

So the TDR was up next and to my amazement the TDR clocked 163km/h....2km less than my banshee running at 2000RPM and the TDR running at 1800RPM.

All I do know is, I have a lot of practicing to do, and hopefully the diabolo S fuse will give me at least 50km/h extra!
