I sincerely want to thank you for your service. My father is a vetran of three foreign wars. I would likely have made it there myself if I would have passed the physical. My ASVAB scores were in the 95th percentile.
Hey, it takes about three weeks to get Zippys. So you'll want to order them soon if you go that route. I am happy to answer any questions that might come up. If I don't know the answer, I'll know who to ask. God speed on your safe trip home.

Good! Just remember to ease them in. Hoover fror 3 or 4 minutes for the first 3 or 4 cycles per battery using only about 50% or 2500mAH. Charge them. Divide the number of mAH put back into the battery by the number of minutes used and always make sure you keep under 80% of the 5000mAH rating. In fact, you probably don't want to exceed 70%. They'll last longer that way. It took a little longer to get my Zippys to balance for the first several cycles but, that is important also.
One thing about Zippys, they don't tend to store real well for long periods. So, you're probably just going to have to fly the crap out of them.

Here's my setup. 4th flight on this bird and I have a feeling it's just getting warmed up.

Hello,
Here is a graph of a typical flight with the above heli. I've had about 15 flights with it so far, and am loving it! Setup is as follows: Hacker 1350kV motor and 70A ESC that comes in the package. Futaba 9650s cyclic and BLS251 tail WR 10A Super Mini BEC @ 6V Zippy H 6S 3300mAh batteries Hobby City el cheapo FG blades for now, Mikado tail blades 18T pinion at 77% throttle governed (despite being at 77%, the throttle is as its maximum output, so I plan to turn the governor off once I can figure out how to enter setup mode) AUW ready to fly is 1950g, or 1450g basic weight, heavier than I was expecting. Currently I'm running 2600 rpm for 5 mins and putting back no more than 2100mAh, so I could probably get away with another minute, but I'm going to continue running for 5 minutes and increase pack life. I'm not measuring temps, but all electrics are running very cool so I feel this is an efficient setup. I am extremely happy with the results this heli has given so far. I'd describe my flying as "intermediate," so prefer flight time to performance, but I feel that 2600 rpm is giving pretty good performance all the same. The second image is a screen shot from an application called "Hobby Central" by Martin at archeli. It is handy because it shows your min, average and max values for a variety of parameters at a glance. It also includes things like C rating and motor efficiency. Did I say I love this heli! |

I have a very common/standard setup on my Logo500 Flybar
This setup is safe on heat and current yet has good power Main blades: 550mm RotorTech Tail blades: 92mm RotorTech Motor: Scorpion 4020-1100kv Gearing: 153T Herringbone mod 0.7 with 15T pinion Battery: Outrage XP25 6S 5000mah ESC: Align 100amp Servos: BLS451 Gyro: Spartan DS760 into S9256 Model servos using ~80mah per flight! Regulator: Align 6amp (power from 2S TP2000 pack) The data says it all Temps: A=Motor B B=Battery C=ESC

Logo400~ 9650 (mks gears), V-bar, 9256, Maniac 427's Setup style: 3D Ambient Temperature: 90 F Motor and Pinion: Scorpion -1400 w/ 19t pinion ESC: Phoenix125 Lipo: ThunderPower Pro Power 30C 6S 3300's Length of flight: 4:30 Headspeed: ~2700 rpm Motor Temp: Hot ESC Temp: Mildly warm Lipo Temp: warm MAH put back into pack after flight: ~2550Mah For what it's worth, the rpm sensor on my ET is not really working properly. Has an odd resonance and is recording a bit less than actual. Also, this is a very fast setup; not for the lighthearted.

Old Logo 20......needs help
Hi all
I dont supose anyone out there has any power setup info for a Logo 20. Mine "had" a Tango 45-08, Beat 50-8-30 ESC and used either 20 or 24 NiMh cells, depending on which packs i used....it also runs 96 and 9 teeth with 620mm blades. Anyway, the 45-08 seized one day, and i sent it back to Kontronik....they told me it was beyond repair, and i cant really afford the 200 bucks for a new 45-08 at the moment. Any ideas which motor i could directly replace it with.....or should i just bite the bullet and replace the motor, esc and batts with a newer LiPo setup.....If so what.... It would need to be something i could transfer to a Logo 500 or 600 at a later date.... I would really prefer the cheaper option at the moment.....would an Align RCM-BL600L or 650L do as a straight cheap option etc ? cheers Ian |

wolfman, to my recollection the 45-8 was abit over 700kv, so that's abit on the higher kv range... I may have a 45-8 around I will check..

Hi Shawn
replird to your PM, but it says your inbox is full....you might not get it till you delete a few old messages etc.....i think thats what it meant. anyway, heres a c,n,paste of what i replied to you. cheers Ian Hi Shawn, That would be extremelly generous of you, and would save me a whole heap of problems also.....Although i really dont mind paying you something for it, and also i would cover the postage as i am in Scotland UK. my zip code is KA9 2PU. if you could get a postage quote then i can pay you. How can i pay you ? would you accept a payment from paypal, obviously i would pay the paypal fee also ? that is what we use in the UK here an awful lot, or do you have any other money transfer type that you prefer ? I am going to be away at a car race event for the next couple of days, but if i can log on i will, or else i will be back on sunday evening. thanks again Ian |

My new toy, first real flights this past Sunday:
1/26/10 Logo 600 3D FBL VBar 4.0, Spektrum satellites BLS 451 tail BLS 251 cyclic Hacker A50 14L Mod 1, 13T pinion Hacker X80 Opto Pro 3D ESC WR Hercules Super BEC, 6 volts Hyperion G3 VX 5S 4200mah X 2 Edge mains/tails, 95 (have a QuikUK tail set, haven't put them on yet) only upgrade was a metal boom brace bracket (never liked the plastic ones and I don't use a horizontal fin) Aggressive 3D VBar setup Governed, 80% Idle 2, HS 2250rpm So far, batteries and components mildly warm after 5:30 flying time, moderate 3D, 70% discharged. Have been "conditioning" batteries. Any need for that with these newer high dschg batts? Awesome flight performance.

Badass machine!
Some say no on the conditioning but I definately do it with mine. And I don't care what make either. I am currently using Hyperion G3 35c, TP ProPower 45c and Outrage XP25c lipos but I've also used Zippy's and I treat them the same way. A couple of my 10s Outrage XP25 4200's have well over a hundred cycles and they're still going strong. I believe part of the credit belongs to good maintenence which includes conditioning. I start by discharging to 50% in a hover. I add a minute each cycle until I reach 75%, usually three more cycles. Then I back the timer down 30 seconds, raise the headspeed a touch and do some moderate sport flying for a couple cycles. I don't push my lipos "hard" until after the first ten cycles. What I've noticed is that the cells will progressively pull into a more consistent balance with each other for the first few cycles. After that you're golden. I also storage charge my lipos if I think they're going to sit for more than a couple days. After a month or so of storage I'll cycle them (charge/discharge) on the chargers. And I don't let them get or stay too far from 75F if it can be avoided.
