The issue is that the SK-720 is mounted on a plate and has a vibration pad under that plate so that the auto-level works reliably, so it is a bit more complicated to mount.

The SK-720 BE can be hard mounted if you don't mind not always having the auto-level feature available. Personally I barely use that much anymore, but I still love the vibration analysis.

Question Logo 550SX build

Greetings ... I am a proud new owner of a used, but in great condition 550 SX - other than stress fractures on the canopy, {first time owning a Mikado} and have just been reading your post on your build. NICE JOB !! I was wondering where you got your static kit from? And ~ I had a couple of other questions ... is there a tray that the main battery sits in? It looks awfully open underneath. Page 10 in the manual, figure 5 makes it appear that there is something there but I can not find a reference to it. Also OUTSTANDING IDEA on the canopy magnets I am definitely going to implement that!!

Put male velcro on the bottom elements, fuzzy on the packs, place them carefully (use a silver marker or something to insure center of gravity) and strap them (it) down with a pair of battery straps.

Definitely do the magnet thing. I'm now using epoxy, and some plastic to separate the blobs while thery dry,

HAVE FUN.

I've found this amount of Velcro is working really well.

Just cover the bottom slats and 2/3 of the battery and it will hold well and come out easily.

I guess I've had most of a season with it and I'm finding the Logo 550SX to be extremely reliable.

It has become my goto heli, like I was hoping.

At least the way I've been crashing ( 3 times so far this year ) I've found it repairs very quickly. I've yet to break a frame.

Great thread!

I just got my first Logo and it's a 550SX. Really appreciate all the good 550 info fleshed out here.

Thanks to Mark, Ryan and everyone else contributing

Mark,
Did you ever shorten your ESC to motor wires?

Suggestion: For scale, next time put a quarter (or penny, or ruler, or...) in the photo!

Just started researching my Logo 550sxV2 build and currently I'm on page 1 - (thus explains this thread's resurrection...)

This will be my first big heli. So far, so good (still in the study/research phase). Thanks for sharing your build secrets and tips!

Hi All
Just received my 550SE today, this will be my first Logo, I have only built Trex before.

First question is, should I use the rubber grommets on the servos as I have never done so before, also are the self tapping screws secure enough I thought they would be bolted.

Thanks

Grommets are a matter of preference on an electric; however, I skipped them on my Logo 550. You have no choice on the screws but they do hold

Actually I had one screw not grip fully, just be careful to align well when screwing in and don't over torque.

The new 550SE build is going nicely, everything fits together so well its a real pleasure to build.
Do I need to lubricate the belt ? it is not mentioned in the manual.

I have some "Servisol Silicone grease 70" spray, would this be suitable ?

I would of thought the lubrication is likely to make the belt slip a tooth.

Thanks again for your help.

Don't think it will slip if tension is right. A lot of people use the lube technique and I havent heard of any causing belts to slip. But, I've no experience on lubricating belts as it's pretty humid here and I use grounding of boom and tail to motor.

FWIW, I've never lubed a belt.

I have sprayed static guard on a few in the past but I don't think it was necessary.

I have the tail grounded on all.

Lubing the belt probably can't hurt. I just always felt it would sling off the belt and make even more dirt/dust get all over the heli.

Not to mention attracting more dirt to the belt itself.

Just my 2 cents.

Oops, my bad. No lube necessary. I interpreted the static spray as a lube which is commonly used to prevent static build up. The static can zap your FBL which will leave you without control. This will appear as a glitch, lasting a short period of time, or your electronics may not recover resulting in a crash.

The 550SE is nearly done now.
The manual says position the battery to achieve the correct CG, I guess the CG should be at the center of the blades, if so should the bottom of the skids be level or the boom ?

I personally look at the boom assuming it's ninety degrees to the mast which should be perfectly vertical.

Excellent thread.

Does anybody have a handful of those McMaster Nylon bolts to spare? I'm willing to pay for it as well as shipping to Finland. Thanks.

This will be for my new 550sx build.
