Default OS 120HZ-R

I assume if ys has a 120sr coming out then OS will have something like a 120HZ-R to back them up,any inside info is welcome.

I would hope so. From what I have heard, the OS 91hz platform is more suited towards larger displacement as it is a larger crank case, lower compression, lower revs and just seems generally meatier and smoother, opposed to the more slimed down, high performance YS. But I will be happy as long as we get to fly any of these larger displacement engines THIS summer.

Well I am extremely excited about the ys-120. But there are still many questions about it. Will it be very vibration prone. I am building a Srimok ECO. So I don't know if that will be able to get along with a 120. And you have to wonder about durability. The liner is like the thickness of 2 sheets of foil.

Why would you think the cylinder liner would be so thin? The majority of the displacement increase is from changing the stroke of the crankshaft. As far as durability, Tim Jones mentioned to Finless Bob that although he re-pinioned his test bird since he felt the motor had the torque to pull the gear-he also said you could use use the same gear ratio as the stock 700N- so you'll be turning the same rpm to keep your headspeed. If you are going to buy a 120-you aren't concerned about anything other than absolute horsepower and torque. Fuel consumption is going to be greater too. All that and the electric 700 will STILL have more power. Bottom line,if you are in the market you are going to run the hell out of it. For what its worth, rebuilding one isn't that big of a deal. I'm wondering if they will be offering a "big bore kit" if its possible. Any word if the crankcase is the same or is it a different casting?

No free lunches. Just the sweet smell of burnt NITRO.

I believe the Crank case is the same casting. With regards to the liner i am going by the pics. I am very interested in this motor. I have a brand new ys-3ds I am going to fly in the meantime. More displacement may vibrate more (even at the same rpm). I am not going to say will, because there are variables like pressure and stroke and many other things I don't know about yet. But if your making more power there should be more overall vibrations. Many people say YS vibrates a bit more than OS already. So its just something I am wondering about. The amount of nitro it burns is gonna be what it burns I wont cry about that. But durability is something you have to at least wonder about. All and all I am looking forward to this motor, and probably will own one. But who wants to have something blowing up all the time. (I am not saying it will) Its just food for thought.
