Default iCharger 4010 Duo vs 308

As a warning. My buddies 4010 caught fire the other day. Mine blew up a week ago. A resistor blew in mine and shot the charging lid 2 inches off the case. I've since gone to powerlab.

I'm not sure exactly how the servo speed test works, but when I move the ms to 0.25 the test always fails for me. .5 works for all my cyclic servos. The one time it did show a failure was when I put a bad servo on it.

333 hz sounds too high for that servo. I don't think it's higher than 200 hz. I don't think that matters with a digital servo though. I believe they ignore updates between refreshes faster than it can do. A refresh rate too high can fry an analog servo though.

Any charger can fail. I've read and heard the iChargers are pretty dependable though. I've had nothing but great experiences with mine. I've been putting 100 - 200 AH through it at 25 volts every week for a few months now.

I'm on my third 4010. They work great until they don't work at all.

Just a few bad ones really.. thousands have been sold. People don't post "it's working!".... mines going strong for 24 months now.

I do hope my third one is a charm. I like the charger, but their failure rate seems high when compared to the competition.

I highly recommend Progressive RC's fused parallel boards. If anything should happen to a pack while charging it could save the rest of of your parallel packs instead of having a really expensive bonfire. Common replaceable automotive fuses on each main battery connector and resetable poly fuses on the balance leads for each individual cell. They are bulky but they're about as safe as it gets for parallel charging.

I love cables and ditched the boards. Yes you have to be more careful.. never forget the main leads... plug balance taps in carefully.

BTW.. ditch the little boards and plug your balance parallel cables straight in.. you can see how I did that in this video.. even in the preview shot. Scraped the right ridge off.

iCharger 4010 Duo. A little tour of Chernobyl (0 min 56 sec)

Didn't know you could plug the cables right in with a little mod on the plug. Good info, thanks!!!

Nothing wrong with that. Just throwing the option out there. I like your setup, Slyster. I watched your video tour while I was still charging with 3 cheap 150W chargers... and it inspired me. Lol

It can get a little cluttered, need a bigger charging area!!! And that's only 4 batteries on one side!

I'm planning to modify one of mine and can take some images when I open them up.

is it ok to ground float all supplies,
or do you need one grounded???

Floating grounds can be dangerous because the chassis can be at a very different potential from you and you can get an electric shock upon touching it.

I love my 308 Duo. Single best investment into this hobby because I choose to stay electric.

Yes it will work fine until the day you get electrocuted!

If you expect that someone conscious will say that it is safe, forget it.
