Advice on next heli?
I started with an MCPX V2 – Very easy for me to fly after working with simulator. Then moved on to a 130X which was more “touchy” but I can pretty easily fly it around the yard (even got a second one to reduce downtime).
I then purchased a 300X but haven’t flown it much. I like to fly in my yard (3/4 acre) as opposed to gathering up a bunch of stuff and going to the field. The 130X is a bit small and I would like something larger. The 300X is just a bit too large to fly around in my yard. I’m barely moving into some very mile 3D (tic toc, etc.) but mostly do scale type flying. I have a DX6i and an extra receiver. I would like to stay with the DX6i tx. My question: What would be a good choice for my next heli? I’ve thought about a T-Rex 250 (or something in that class). I don't mind putting together from a kit. Any suggestions (preferably with “pros and cons”) would be much appreciated! |

You will probably find the 250 just as difficult to fly in a small area as the 300x.

Not much difference between the 250 and 300x to make a difference. Might as well kept the 300.

3/4 of an acre and the 300 is to big ??
or you have trees ? 3/4s of acre should more then enough room for a 300 and or the 130 .. at least i think . isnt that roughly around 30,000Sq feet ? bein an acre is 43,000Sq feet..

I am in the same situation the 130 is about as large as I can go and my space sometimes is too small. but much further out and it is too small so it works out. blackberries all around and a fenced area that a few times I almost landed in.

Nice area to fly! More room than I have.
Told my wife that I thought the “trees had some kind of blight” and needed to be removed before infecting others. She was not amused! I’ve only been flying about 3 months but I think I’ve had “in flight collisions” with every bush and tree (including my neighbors). I wanted to build something over the winter (Tennessee) while it’s cold and rainy outside but I don’t want to have something just sitting around because I don’t have room to fly it and I thought maybe a 250 Pro DFC or some other 200 series heli would fit the bill. Again, all suggestions / comments are appreciated |
