This is the first time I have seen this in video... but I am new to all of this.

I generally avoid activities related to electronic devices. But as it happens, my wife has a tube of E6000 sitting in her craft room. She uses it to glue beads. Tomorrow I plan to borrow a bit and mod my 450.

Thanks, Bear!

I want to try this 3g mod, but I am scared I will mess something up. It looks very simple.
My gain is at 45 and the heli is solid. Is it worth it so that I can turn my gain up a little?

Hey Jondabear,

I did the mod on my 550e and my 700n today. I could not find the 3M 4010 but I did find some 3M 411 heavy duty indoor / outdoor mounting tape. It looked like the thickness was close to the 4010. Have you herd of this and will it be allright to use?

Also you say not to strap the sensor with the 3M. Can you explain why.

Cant wait to test. Will air both birds on Saturday!!

Thank you for taking the time to make the video.

My pleasure on the VID.

Now on to the short explanation.

Standard 411 WILL NOT do the same job as the 4010.
I would try to find the exact 4010 OR the LOCTITE brand equivelant.

4010 is a GEL and 4011 is a FOAM. 2 TOTALLY different dampening characteristics.
Thats why I also use the E6000, instead of regular silicon. Different densities, mass, vibe diferentials etc.

No strap needed because we have now "TIGHTENED" up the sensors from WITHIN.
Strap will only induce and transfer Vibes. If ya MUST, do it very loosely so as to keep it only as a safety precaution for the sensor. The way we use a strap to tie down a gyro, more or less. Very loose, but just enough to keep it from falling off the heli.

Hope this helps. PEACE!

Jondabear,
I dont know what happened but I went to test the 550 today and it was unflyable.Flew great before the mod but with lower gains. I used the E6000 and installed it as per your vid. Mounted the sensor with the 410 with no strap. Gains on the unit at 12. Upon spool up the bird was VERY unstable, Went down with the gains and it seen to get worst, Went up to 1 o clock then 2 ect all the way till 3 or so. It got a tad better but still unflyable.

I then tried remounting the sensor with three other foams, tapes ect with the same results. The changes of pads did not make the unstable hover better or worst. I went as far as changes the cable to the sensor. No difference,

last thiing I did was to take apart the sensor and safely remove all ofthe E6000,inspect the board and reinstall. Same effect. I installed the Align metal antirotation brack that the sensor fits on.Can this be a issue. It was installed prior to the mod with no issues,

The only thing I have not done is made changes thru the 3G software yet. It is set on defult for 500 - 700. Any sugestions???

Any other guys that had an issue with a 550? I am a bit afraid to fly the 700 tomorrow.

Thank you

LOCATION.

Sensor is happiest within the frames on the BOTTOM plate just below the motor.

Where it is rt now is absolutely the WORST place to put it.

Also try to use the Loctite brand tape or a ALIGN foam.

The spartan FOAM also works very well.

Is it best to use a closed cell or open cell foam ?

Polyolefin or polyethylene ?

Didnt know there was actually names for those. HAHA, Take a look at spartan stuff and let me know what that is. Id say the denser of the 2 which would be closed cell probably . Is that a corerct assumption?

Hey Guys,

My hats off to Jondabear. He is a world of knowledge plus and just a good guy for the hobby. I had what I thought was a destroyed sensor and he took his time to help me get my 550 back in the air. He owns a hobby shop and at no time did he try to push a new sensor on me.

Give this guy a chance if you need some Heli parts or just some solid advice.

Randy

I had a weird intermittent side to side wobble in my 500 which no amount of futzing with the gain adjustment would eliminate. I did the e6000 mod three days ago and flew it for the first time this morning. No wobble at all ... perfectly stable. Thank you Jondabear.
