Default Turnigy L03025HB motor for Protos 500

Turnigy L03025HB motor for Protos 500. 850KV 1300W Marking on the can says HELI.
Has anybody tried this motor for the Protos 500? I bought two of the motors some time ago and would like to chat with some folks that have the motor installed. Can add a picture if that helps.

For the money it´s a really nice motor. I think I read someone clocked 1.7kW peaks, so plenty of power. You can use the stock (Scorpion) settings for timing/PWM. The claimed 850kV seems to be on the low side.

I did change the bearings to quality ones. I just couldn't trust the ones that came with the motor (sooo cheap). I also installed the long motor shaft to run a 14T pinion and I had to shorten the shaft on the bell side, otherwise either the pinion alignment was off or the little cap on the bottom of the can would not fit.

Yes, that´s the motor. The long motor shaft is the MSH one for the Scorpion motor for 12,13 and 14T pinions:

http://www.msh-direct.com/880kv-long-motor-shaft/

I don´t know the diameter of the shaft (I´m traveling right now, without my Protos), but no problems with the thickness, it was just a little too long on the bell side. I had a little up/down play (1mm) of the bell when the shaft was flush with the back side, so I pushed the shaft a bit further in. Old shaft came out with a hammer and punch since I do not have a drill press.

But if you´re using 15T and above pinions you can leave the mounted shaft, just have to shorten it a bit for the stock Protos pinion adapter to fit.
