Default Helijive error message and issues.SOLVED!

Hi Guys,
I'm hoping somebody has some ideas. I've always owned and loved Jive ESC's and never had an issue until now.(and I'm not sure its a Jive issue)

My original setup.
7HV
Jive 120
BD 3SX with sats.
700MX motor
RJX cyclic
BLS 251 tail
2200 HS governed internal Jive at 65% throttle.
DX8

This setup flew beautifully for hundreds of flights, never an issue. I wanted a tad more power and installed an 800MX motor. This setup flew for about a hundred flights without an issue. Everything always came down warm but never hot as I have an IR pyrometer and periodically check temps.

Just recently I've been getting an error code upon battery connection.......2 blinks, which is "no motor connected or motor inductance too high. change the motor"
I wouldn't always get the code, and I could unplug and replug the batteries and it would initialize as normal and fly as normal. Its been getting more frequent though. For the past few days I've had shutdowns in flight with an error code of 8 blinks, which is "over current detected by hardware, immediate shutdown, no restart possible, check motor and gearbox for damage. Check motor connections for insufficient soldering"

Now, I thought it was the Jive and figured I'd send it back to Germany for service. I bought a new Helijive in the meantime. I installed the Helijive and am getting the same symptoms and cutouts as well as error codes!

What I've changed so far:

ESC (new Helijive)
Motor (I switched back to the 700MX)
new motor to ESC connectors

I'm still getting the same error codes and shutdowns.

Any ideas? Please help!

Did you program KSA mode? Some Align motors will give the cut out when operating without KSA mode which limits the auto timing range.

No, I will try that. Thanks for the response.

Vinger,
Is KSA mode programmed just like any other mode? Will my governor still work?

you will get the normal startup sounds followed by a telephone ring at the end when KSA mode is on

They call it "mode". I w'd name that "option". To be programmed on top of mode - just like voltage monitoring (cell counting).

KSA is always on (ring tone given) in mode 8. But forget about mode 8 and external gov. There are easier ways to kill an ESC.

Well it turns out it wasn't the Helijive, motor or any of the electronics. It was the one way bearing! The cutouts always seemed to occur when in a full zero pitch dive while overspeeding the head. The OWB was locking up in flight and overamping the motor.
The Jive told me to check the motor and transmission and it was correct! Smart German!
The OWB felt fine as well, thats why I didn't give it a second thought. Ive had other helicopters with OWB lock but it never caused shutdowns(with powerjive ESC's)

Glad you got it sorted. Too bad it cost you another US$550 though.
