Default crash durability

well i have to say this thing is really strong... it was sunny for the first time in a while yesterday so i went flying, only having 3 flights on it i wasnt use to it yet... was doing some pitch pumping on it trying to figure out the problem with my pitch, got a little close to the ground and bam... hit extremely hard. i was quick on the th as i ran up to it all that broke was the fbl ball link broke the plastic main grip, and one long rod broke off, and my new cosmetic flawed radix fbl were cracked... didnt strip any servo gears or do any other damage that ive noticed so far... i did a run up and all the shafts look straight...

my main question is do the fb and fbl use the same long rod? i can only find one online and im pretty sure they do just want to double check before i place an order online

Bummer!

Looks like both versions use the MSH40051 long rod.

Ya I'm guessing that since there isn't other arms and their close in measurement...

After looking it over closer I took the grips off and the spindle is bearly bent so I'm going to replace that, also what is puzzling me Is the main shaft collar was pretty far off the bearing like the entire head was pushed down, and the bolt inside the main gear was bent, but it all went back to position except for the collar, so I guess somehow it popped back in... I don't want to pay 5 bucks for the main gear just for that screw so I'm gonna look at a home depot or something for it

I think they should start selling little packs of screws or something because I believe with the design the screws are going to give before parts, just like my screw inside the gear,

How do you measure the screw? It's 2mm wide I believe and from tip of head to tip of threads it's 20mm long so I'm assuming it's a m2x20mm

I'm going to try and find it at home depot and buy a few

I'm breaking one main gear screw per crash. I'm using the one of my TRex as replacement.

Other parts I've broken (on FBL):
- Main grip
- Main shaft
- Main shaft collar screw (during repair) *
- Spindle
- Head link
- Tail fin (vert, planning to mount two together next time)
- Tail lever
- Tail guide

+1 on the hardware bag.

PS * Collar is listed on MSHeli web site as MSH41005 Main shaft locking ring.

Mines about the same, didn't break anything on the tail and my lock collar made it, do they sell that screw separately?

Have u tried the solid main shaft? Rh is out of the hollow so I was going to try it, I also broke the links that are the swash trailers on fbl,

But all my bearings looked to have survived

Ops, forgot to tell I scratched my beautiful canopy.

Time for a re-kit? Looks almost worth for blades and canopy alone.

Not too much.

Main shaft (hollow) is 6.25EUR each, spindle 2.70. Main grip is 2.50 and a set of links 3.00.

Edit:
Regatding the rekit, I was considering that the canopy is 31EUR and SAB blades 38. This sums up to 70, which made me think that it could be worth to buy a naked kit (220) and have a full set of spares instead of buying these items alone.

I crashed some cf radix 325 fbl ones and I have a second pair waiting to go... Honestly I can't tell much of a difference but I haven't got to push them hard, but I will most likely stick to the cheap align or stealth blades

Anybody know a good place to get a m2x20 screw? Lowes, home depot, radio shack, best buy don't carry them

Try Denton Tool & Fastener -
www.fwbt.net - 700 North Locust Street, Denton - (940) 383-2183

That should be similar to some fastener stores we have here in Austin.

To get a good selection of metric screws locally, you need to go to the smaller neighborhood hardware stores. They usually have a huge selection, where as the larger chains (home depot, lowe's) don't have much. Around here any True Value hardware will have a full selection.
