Default Help with 4g3 spinning

Hi all!

Just got a used 4g3 for winter indoor flying and I'm having problems. About the heli:
Walkera 4g3 with a 2605A; WK-WST-10A-L esc; WK-WS-12-003 main motor (black); and an unknown tail motor (silver).

My problem:
Either the tail rotor doesn't spin up at all, or even if it does it doesn't have the power to keep the heli from spinning CCW.

It seems that the main is brushless and tail is brushed. Is this a bad combo? Is that why it won't work?

Any help is appreciated. I've a Blade 400 and Gaui 550, w/ DX6i and little TX with dip switches is different.

THanks

Hi, sounds like you have a stock brushed tail - which is very finicky to set up. Everything needs to be spot on, check the shaft is straight, check for play in the bearings, damaged teeth on the gears - which need to be perfectly meshed.

Also these brushed motors don't last long, so could be on it's way out.

The tail motor not starting up until well after the main is normal - but it should start up as soon as the gyro sees it has something to do.

Too much pitch on the main blades and not enough headspeed creating too much torque could be the cause. Take a look here:

Alternatively, save yourself a lot of hassle and upgrade to the 2.9g brushless tail motor - you'll have a much more robust and better performing heli

Thanks Dusty!

I figured I would need to go totally brushless, and so I've already ordered a setup from Wow Hobbies.

Thanks for that link... I printed it out and will see if I can get it setup while I'm waiting for new motor.
