Mardy,

That's funny, I was searching last night for the same motor and could not find ANYWHERE. Still not sure what pinion(Gaui) to mate up to that motor?

Mardy, i have 2 of this motors right under my nose... Bought them in Germany. A kora 15-16 + Jazz 55-6-18 cost 214.29€ without taxes (you don't have to pay them as far as i know). I can give you the adress if you want. I can also help you with the seller. He is german but speaks french too. I will already ask him how much the shipping could cost to the US.

I was surprised that you was still a bit nose heavy with TP batts. Butt on my Vibe 500 i had a Kora. Very light indeed. This helps. Very powerfull too. (i was using 15-14 and 5S). A light ESC is also important since it's in the front. Hacker X55 is a very good choice, much less expensive than the Jazz and works almost as good (soft start is even better).

Kora 15-16 with 6S will need 14 or 15T pinion. According to the results i had with the 15-14 my maths give me 14.4T.

That is a very good price, but I need to sell a few things first.

As for the model balance, I think that if I shaved off a few grams with a lighter motor, it would balance perfectly. Maybe next month

My flying buddy and I took a trip to College Station on Saturday to fly with one of the local pro's. Man what a day! I offered up my Vibe 500E for him to fly as I wanted his opinion on what he thought. I had no idea a Heli could do what he did to it. He landed it and said, " Really Love this Heli!" Tracks well, no bad tendancies, rolls perfect, very precise.

So he puffed the heck out of my Flightmax 20C 2560 Lipo, Laughing, just means I need a 25C or 30C pack next time you fly it. Was totally worth it to see what he could do with it.

So lesson is if you are a Pro, 20C does not cut it on this machine.

PS: Flamesuit on. My Buddy offered up his Trex 500 for him to fly and he say "No Thanks", do not care for that one. Names omitted to respect the privacy as I did not ask permission to post this.

Well that is good to hear. I should get my 500e kit tomorrow and will be selling off my T500 ESP. My ESP is perfectly balanced and it just will not keep its nose down if FF.

My trusty Vibe 50, however, is extremely well behaved.

Horizon always has all the parts in stock. Sometimes Heliproz, sometimes Ron's Heliproz south.

Hi there,
I have a 500E as well and I'm scared to fly it due to the temperature from the E-Flite ESC getting so high.
I was looking to get another ESC and was looking for the Jive 80LV but can not find it anywhere. Any other ESC you could use?

Order a Hacker X55 to espritmodel. Very good ESC. Cheap and realy good. Perfect soft-start (better than the Jazz one!) In Japan JR supplies the X70 with a heatsink with the SVE6S= Vibe 500. Very heavy (80g) and no need of that. At all. Stick with the lighter X55. Or Jazz 55-6-18 LV. Jazz 80 is a waist of money on this case. Heavier and no need of the added 15Amp.

I just replaced the E-Flite ESC in mine with a Castle Creations Phoenix ICE 75. I put 3 flights on it today and I like it.

yea that E-Flite ESC scares me to death, spin it up and the heli rotates 90 degrees on the skids., Just uncalled for in a decent ESC.

Does the Hacker X55 have a good governor?
Thie Governor the entire reason for the Jazz/Jive. Switch Mode BEC and Soft Start added plus.

Just another Note. Tail Blades on this bird have a 4mm Root. So all the common ones, Align, CYB, ect, do not fit. I am looking for a 72mm Carbon Blades with a 4mm Root. It is the same a the Proto's Tail Blades. On 450's the plastic is fine. ON the 500
plastic wallows out the blade bolt hole too quickly.

Any ideas where to find?

Any opinions on using the Kontronik Kora 15-12 motor? At 960KV, it looks like a closer match to the Eflite motor than the Kora 15-16.

Default E-Flite 60 AMP ESC

What settings did you use when you had the high temps on the E-Flite ESC?

I have just put a new E-Flite 60 AMP ESC in my 2nd V500E and so far it is working very well. The softstart is not very soft...but you can get it to work less any HARSH left yaw on spool up with a little tweaking on the normal throttle curve. I have my 12X set to 0, 14, 46, 75, 100. I can get head to spool up ok with that and then flip to ID curves and not have any issues. There is no real harsh POP in rpms as well when hovreing in normal then flipping to ID up's.

My setting are:

6S LI-PO setting
Brake OFF
Motor Advance Timing 15 degrees
Throttle Range 1.2-1.8ms - DEFAULT
Acceleration Delay 1 - SEC - NOT DEFAULT
PWM Frequency 16KHz - NOT DEFAULT
Working Mode - HELI - NOT DEFAULT

I also have the E-Flite 25H heli motor on the heli with the 12 tooth pinion from the kit. Tac shows 2600 RPMS in ID2 with 100% throttle. Timer on 12X is set for 6 mins. I fly till it buzzs then land. I put back in 2000 to 2100 MAH in my 2700 TP Packs. Voltage shows 22.40 after the flight on the packs. They are the 30C Pro Power type.

I just put 12 flights on mine at a FF this past weekend. The ESC worked very well. I didn't even pull my 1st V500E out of the car...that one has the Align500 ESC on board with very similar set up. I get the same run time - performance - less a very SMOOTH start up that ALIGN ESC's offer. That to me is the only difference between my 2 helis.

Just wondering what your set up is. Mine runs very COOL in temp...98 degrees after 6 mins of pretty hard flying on the ESC. Motor is 112 degrees too.

Thanks!

Paul - that's what I have on order for mine - glad you like it. Are you using the Governor? I am curious how it performs.

Hacker X series offer a perfect soft-start. Even better than the one from the Jazz 55. Yes, it's possible! Spool up is a little longer than with the Jazz. Jazz longest spool up is 12 sec and hacker shortests one is around 15 sec i think. Transition between the soft-start and governor is invisible. The jazz is often giving you a small kick when it switchs to governor after the soft-start. I had 3 Jazz 55, they all did this approx 50% of flights.

Jeremy I am running High Governor on mine and so far I have not had any problems with it. I also have a MA Razor that has a Pheonix 85 HV and that always would wag the tail on hard fast pitch changes. I am going to update the firmware in that and see if it helps on that heli.

Paul - good to know. I have read the new GOV firmware update is much improved. Should have mine in the air this weekend. Can't wait to try it out.

I just ordered a 500e, yeah. Now the fun of getting the gear and a good build are next. I already have Radix 425s, 6s batteries 2600 & 3000s, JR3517s and a Spartan. Since Kontroniks are hard to come by at the moment I'm considering a Scorpion 3026-1000, CC Ice 75 and a JR3500 for the tail. Sound OK?
I have a Trex 500 so I hope to give a reasonably unbiased eval when the build is done.

GreenCello - I am using the Eflite motor with the 75A Phoenix Ice. DS3517 servos with a 3500g and G7703D. Still finishing the build but expecting good things. Scropion motor should be great too.
