I'm planing on using a Hyperion/Scorpion 4025-1100 on the plastic frame.
Instead of modifying the frame and shimming the pitch/roll arms, can I get by with the larger front gear and pinion? Will the gears kick the motor out enough from the frame. If not, How do I shim the arms out. I checked Nexgen's thread and didn't really find the info I need. Maybe it's just me but, I could not find the info here.

...I believe that motor is larger in diameter than the 4020-910....you will still need to shim out the arms...buy all the gears you can get your hands on too...

Well, just a few thoughts, not sure if they will help. The pitch and roll arms are about 44mm apart. The Z-power motor on my 425 is about 41mm in diameter. With a 50T front gear and 15T pinion there is about 2 1/2mm clearance on each side. The Scorp 4025 is 49mm in diameter. The 60T front gear is 10mm larger in diameter than the 50T which would move the motor 5mm farther away from the arms. With a 60T front gear you would need to use an 18T, Gaui X4 gear ( G-901801) to get a head speed of around 2000 to 2100 for using 550mm blades.
I did a quick mock-up in a spare frame to try to help answer your question, with a 60T front gear, 16T pinion and Z-Power motor to check the clearance. I had just slightly over 4mm clearance on both sides, so, technically that would be just barely enough to fit a 49mm diameter motor. With the 18T pinion you might just be able to fit that motor, but can't say for sure. It will be real close though if it does fit. Hope this helps a little. Jerry

I got the big gears and shims (3X4.6X.05) We'll see what happens.

It should be a real powerhouse if you can squeeze it in there. Hopefully you won't have a problem with stripping gears with the added torque of the bigger motor.
