Align Sensor help
I am trying to get my align sensor working on my fullsize V-bar.. It said swap the red/black wires, so i did. I tried to fly and it said sensor failure. When I move the magnet under the sensor i got the green light in the software. So after the failure i thought maybe I wired it wrong, so i swapped red/black and now i get no green lights. Can someone please let me know the proper way to wire it?
from left to right, should it be white, red, black? or white, black, red?

I'm 99% sure I have it wired right. I can get the magnet light, however in my log I am seeing
Governor Sensor no Signal Governor Sensor Signal Failure The Sensor delivers a Signals that has too high frequency. This usually points to a defect of the wire or noise that is coupled into the sensor wire. See the attached log

Red & Black wires do need to swapped on the Align sensor.
When you set up the governor & selected "nitro", did you click "reset"? I'm thinking the prescaler is wrong. If so, clicking reset will fix it, but you'll need to go over governor & throttle limit parameters again because they may revert to default values.

Resets to usable values.
The reason I say this is because in one of the Beta versions, I had a sensor not giving an RPM indication, although the magnet light was working correctly. (Didn't fly because of this, so I'm unsure exactly what effect it would have had in flight) It was because "silly me" didn't hit "reset" when setting up & therefore the prescaler was wrong. :o Just a thought anyway, worth a try.

do you think this could be caused from the gov magnet not being close enough to the sensor?

How far away is it?
If it's within 3mm I'd say it would be fine, however, I like to have mine within 1mm. Personally, I don't use the Align sensor. I'm currently using the CY ATG sensor. I also had good results with the Spektrum backplate sensor, but I feel they are prone to failures do to being rigidly mounted directly to the engine. (Heat & vibes). I've killed about 5 of them.

I modified the included CY sensor bracket.
Basically cut it down to the same as the Align sensor bracket, (they are the same shape in the centre section) & I mounted it the same as you would mount the Align sensor. I would have used the Align sensor, but I found the cable too short for my requirements & I don't like to lengthen wires. Shorten & recrimp a new connector on yes, but not lengthen. That's just me.

I snagged another align sensor on my way home today and plugged it in. Just sitting on the bench I still get a sensor failure warning after a while. Hmm.

Does the "magnet" light in the VBar software illuminate when the magnet is over the sensor, then go off when away from the sensor? (There is a small delay, a couple of seconds so be patient)
If it does then you are OK. Remember the VBar won't see a valid sensor signal until the engine is running (if magnet is on the fan) or if the clutch is engaged (if magnet is in the clutch bell) EDIT: 700n? So magnet is in the clutch bell. If you give the main gear a good spin backwards, (which in turn spins the clutch bell) you should get a value in the "Current RPM" display in the VBar software. If you do, you're good to go.

In that case you're good to go.
You will most likely be seeing that "error" when the clutch disengages, for eg: when you do an autorotation, spool down in normal mode, basically anytime that the clutch bell (in this case) isn't spinning. I get that too. It's not an error as such, it's merely information. If you save the log file (pdf) you will get more details on the log entries. If you were getting that log entry with a backplate sensor or fan mounted magnet I would be concerned because the sensor should be sending a valid signal whenever the engine is running.

ok great! I'm gonna test it again this weekend, maybe i'll just hover for a few minutes and see if it logs any errors.

Well I have been using it for a few months, it seems to work just fine but I still get the warnings occasionally in my event log.
