I installed 2 magnets on my Vibe 50 clutch bell. I am 100% sure they are installed with opposite polarity (did the Finless marker trick to keep them straight, which worked fine for my ALIGN Gov on my T700N).
However, the TotalG magnet test PICKS UP BOTH OF THEM! I installed two for balance on the clutch bell but apparently this is why the Total G only comes with 1 magnet?I am going to play with the sensor spacing to see if one drops off, but otherwise what are my options? Change the gear ratio or try to remove one of the magnets (big PITA!) Thanks, Jeremy |

Installing > 1 magnets on a Hall sensor is just asking for trouble. You would need to be 100% accurate in getting the magnets EXACTLY opposite - virtually impossible with an average tool shed. If you get it wrong, even if ever so slightly, the governor will get VERY confused. If you are doing this only for balance, use a non-magnetic counter-weight (that won't register with the sensor). Given how little these magnets weigh, I am unconvinced that it is worth the effort though.

You will only need 1 no matter what. The weight will not be a factor. 1 the weight is minimal, and 2 the holes are so close to the center of the bell it doesn't matter anyway. I have only been using 1 for years and have never had a problem doing so. Remove the other magnet and you will be good.

I'd a soldering Iron and rty to melt the epoxy, but that could mess up your main gear.

Don't feel too bad. I did the exact same thing and couldn't figure out why my headspeed would drop so low it was unflyable.
quick call to Brian, took him about 30 secs to figure out what was up. Thanks again Brian. Total G flying like a champAndre

I ASSUMED that since the ALIGN gov would work with 2 magnets that this one would too. Definitely not the case. I couldn't get the extra magent out, so I had to replace the clutch bell. Took the time to replace some bearings too. Still snowing here so I have time to tweak before the maiden. Can't wait to try the Total G, though!

How do you figure out which way to turn the magnet?

It doesn't matter for the TotalG sensor. I installed 2 with opposite polarity facing up and it reads both of them. The Align Gov only reads 1 pole and ignores the other one.

The sensor pak only comes with 1 magnet. I thought about ordering an align sensor pak but I'd rather not if I don't have to.

Make sure it reads the magnet I don't know of a sensor that reads both sides in the v2 manual it states to make sure the polarity is correct

Your right, it does say to polarize the magnet. Thats why I was asking how to do that. If I cant figure it out then I'll try just setting the mag in place while I install the sensor then epoxying it in later after I get all the electronics in. It's pretty tight but sometimes you gotta go with what you got.

What ratio did you set for your 700 with sensor on clutch bell?
