Default Tried To Repair Lower Canopy Support

Hey Gang,
Repaired my broken lower canopy pins with a piece of straight carbon fiber rod, Thick CA'd it to the rest of the plastic strut left underneath it....Now when I power up the mCPX, the two front servos do a shaking thing up and down, uncontrollably....Did I ruin something possibly dripping CA somewhere on the board?
I took the circuit board off and looked at it, doesn't look like I got any extra CA on it.
I tried re-binding the mCPX as well, and still the same thing....Sitting on the bench in TH, the front two servos will dance up and down by themselves with no inputs given at all...

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I think maybe what you are referring to is what we call " ground chatter" which is quite normal. The 3 axis FC is looking for something to do. It usually quits when you get it in the air. Does it fly OK? If it's severe and depending on how many flights you have on it could be the servos need cleaning, but sounds like the "chatter" to me.

Thanks for the reply, I didn't even try to fly it once it did this...
I'll try next time out and see...Definitely gonna look into the Brushless conversion Mod to give this lil sucker some more power....

Thanks, and keep the ideas/suggestions coming!

I would think it would be normal chatter like Tony said. Just another thought if it is not the norm. Carbon fiber is electrically conductive. It may be shorting something on the back of the 3-n-1 if it is touching it.

Yeah, well,
Closer inspection reveals a bent feathering shaft- That will surely be the cause of some chattering for sure...
The FBL unit on the board doesn't know what to do with the movement on the feathering shaft, and it's trying to correct it.
OK, think I've got the problem solved, and while I'm at it, think I'm gonna order that Brushless Conversion Mod kit as well...

Thanks again, and next time out this lil mCPX is going to do some flips for sure!

Just a FYI...you can strengthen the FS by using the mCPX BL parts...

Blade Grips - Rotor Hub - Spindle all match and swap to the mCPX very easily...as does the main gear

If you decide to go to the BL swash, you'll have to use the BL links as well

Many threads on HF about this, with lots of extra strength and much easier to assemble

Yes a bent FS is not good however the ground chatter I mention will occur with or without a bent FS. Until you get it in the air it's hard to tell. I can have a perfectly dialed in heli and still get the normal servo ground chatter. Definitely a bent FS can cause vibes etc and other things. Let us know how it fly's and if it fly's fine with no issues I'm willing to be it's just the ground chatter and don't worry about it. Remember the FBL system doesn't function really until you get airborne so you will get all kinds of servo seeking as the FC is looking for somehting to do. Let us know and good luck!

Hey Gang,
Little update on my jittery mCPX.....Replaced the spindle shaft, blade grips, and rotor hub with the mCPX BL parts (much beefier), and then cleaned the contact strips on the front 2 servos (these screws are small), and now, the lil mCPX is happy again...No shakes, no jitters/chatters...Thanks for the advice!!!
Does anybody know which Brushless conversion works best? Will the plug and play Nano cpx upgrade work in these mCPX's?
I need more power from this little guy to help keep myself out of trouble with collective management.

Was thinking of trying brushless kit from wow hobbies, but not sure...
Any ideas would be appreciated!

If you've still got the "jittery" characteristics in mCPX flight, you don't want to do a brushless upgrade at this point...

It's not in your best interests, and you'll do more damage than good due to the higher head speed and added crash costs

Hold off on that until you've learned collective management and can fly the mCPX with a lot more confidence

I don't recommend the wow kit at all...it's plug n play, which gives up a lot of power and it's also quite a headache to maintain or repair

The Jitters in the machine are all gone...I'm actually at the point in my flying that I think I'll be able to use some extra power....I remember a while back Bert K. did an episode of SmackTalk with mCPX's and he recommended the Brushless wow kit....

Thanks for the info!

I need somewhere between the stock mCPX and the stock mCPX BL power out of my mCPX and it would be just right....Does that exist in conversion kit form?

Thanks.
