picloc 3xpro worth the money??

Nothing useful to report yet. I'm waiting on a new CS 360° gimbal before I will truly know anything. So far I've only had it on the bench going through the software, doing extremely primitive tests with three terrible servos and experimenting with various settings to get familiar with it all. It's a cool little device. Hoping that the combination of the CS gimbal, the custom Freefly servos and this PicLoc will be magical in the air. Should have the gimbal in a little over a week and hope to start testing soon after that.

OK. My Picloc 3x arrived today. Finally. I will mount it to my AV200 360 and post some video soon. I am having some bearing issues on my current motors but hopefully I will still be able to start tuning the picloc and report back.

5) As a rule , Picloc-3X's installed position is governed by what servo types you are using in your gimbal.
Full proportional servos ( with potentiometer ) - Picloc is mounted out of this axis
360 modified ( continuous rotation servos ) - Picloc is mounted ON axis.

Hi Mastoras,

If your gimbal uses proportional servos, or servos with external potentiometer, then... Picloc has to be mounted on your PAN arch or pan axis. so that it gives the servo a proportional control.

If your Mount uses 360 servos, then Picloc needs to be at the camera plate, so that it commands the servos according to what it 'feels' or 'senses'.

Both work, and the degree of success depends on a lot of factors. But mostly on the speed of your system (fast servos).

If you're in experimentation spree, it is best to try both types of stabilization.. if you can !! ( simply disconnecting the pots mechanically, and centering them for no servo movement at 1500us) transforms the servo to 360.

Mine is installed on an AV200. I just cut a piece of aluminum and made a 90 degree to drill some mounting holes. I used some double sided foam, but not sure if that is o.k. or not.

Still working out the setting. Pan must be too slow as there is a delay in the response. I have not tried to fly it yet.

@George I have the Savox SG09351, Will I be able to get it to work with Picloc?
also, how many volts can we run to the Picloc. Can we use 7, since I sometimes run the servos on 7v? I can't find documentation about that. Is there any documentation besides when is written on the website?

Good install....
in that position, the MAG ( if you have a PRO ) must be switched off. ( too close to servo's magnets ).

Yes.. Pan servo is fantastic for smooth panning without stab, but too slow for gyro stab.
Faster servo like that of roll can show you the difference !!.

Hi George,

I can't seem to get the 5ch i1-i5 working properly. The only radio type option that gives any feedback is the PPM SUMi1 selection and that will only register PPM1 under the PPM-Sum tab. It shows in the graph only and doesn't actually move any servos.

I've tried my DX7and DX5e TX's with an AR7000, AR6110e, and a AR500 receivers. All combos give the same result with the PPM1 response.

I also have saved the various radio selections to the eeprom and performed a complete power cycle.

I've followed the videos and all is great until video 5. The AV200 is stable and responds nicely but no RC control yet.

Short of buying a new DX8 or DX6i system, how do I get my DX7 to work?

I have the spektrum 6040 servos without pot they are 360 made by photoshipe one and my mount is the 3xprov2...

I have to mout it on the camra plate?? Can i mount it upside down in orde to put it on the bottom side of the cam mount and have the usb visible??

This orientation will be available in near future. For now, you can use the standard orientation ..ie.. text is top.

It must be on a point that doesnt move because i dont think that i can put it near the cam...!!?? Horizontal or vertical matters???

***Just a WARNING to everyone setting these up.***

Be sure to plug your battery and servos into the top 3 pins (closest to the face). I mistakenly used the bottom set and it shorted the battery, causing the wires to melt together within seconds, shorting it more. I made a mad dash for the snips and cut off the wire, but boy did that battery get hot fast!
All is still good with the picloc though. I guess the traces are strong.
