Yes Red Loctite! All I know is it worked great for me in that application. I'm not sure what the working temp range of red is. But regardless, it works for me.

The color of the thread locker is not as important as the specifications. Not all reds are the same. High temp red is only rated at 450 degree temperatures. It does work for me though. I am not sure what the temp is getting up to, but my bolts don't ever come loose with it. I can only assume it am not exceeding that temp or there is a little wiggle room...or my bolts aren't going to come loose to begin with.

Seems to me the gasket Doug uses is a winner, I have not tried that myself yet.

Yes helicoil stuff works really well, I also once stripped threads on one of my G26 motors when I used to own the v3 muffler from retightening it too much. The helicoils will never strip and are much stronger.

Well the copper gasket with the RTV didnt work! The bolts didn't come loose but the RTV blew out on one side!

So I refaced the muffler and the exhaust port and tried the copper gasket without the RTV and it leaked even worse!

I did have two of the Graphite Exhaust Gaskets on hand just to try them out! I used one today and it seems to seal pretty good I got 2 flights in without any leaks!

OK. You might want to try one other type of gasket.

This guy makes high temp gaskets. I have 2 pair for my RJX muffler. Works great so far.

both available at Autozone...

High temperature gasket maker and a thread sealant....use this and it will never come loose...
it takes 24 hours for the RTV gasket silicon to fully cure.
