zyx-s please help newbie

hey all, i bought this used on here.. i plugged it all in correctly after triple checking... i have a steady red light on.... all servos work and tail when i rotate and move around. on tx,everything moves in correct direction except for elevator when i give input to throttle... on the tx, my rudder stick doesnt work at all.. i plugged it into different channel and it worked! also, like i said, it does move when i rotate heli back an forth.. what am i missing?? and also,this all works and i didnt even set anything up,just plugged it in an wamo! please help me out. i feel im close,but not close enough lol

Have to run through the setup. Sounds like there is still something not setup right in the unit for your heli/TX. Sounds like you got lucky and got 90% of the way there out of the box.

lol yea i guess so... but i have a blue light on,and if i switch my "gyro" switch on tx it goes steady red... i cant get into setup mode or anything

im a total idiot! i had the rudder plugged in wrong on rx... so now everything is good except elevator,seems backwards.. and then test fly??

Reverse the elevator on your Tx.

I always throw my helis on my test stand before trying them out in the field. Just makes it easier to setup gyro gain and things like that. If you don't have a test stand, they are easy to make yourself with plans you can find on HF and youtube.

What test stand are you using?

I bet you my 600 would take off with that test stand in tow without much trouble .

Be careful when strapping helis down, it's not the safest thing to do. And I wouldn't do it with anything bigger than 450.

Actually that stand works well with the 500 size birds
the thing to remember is your not trying to fly
Your just testing setup

Exactly. The idea is just setup but if you were really worried, just adjust the weight if the base to compensate.

I actually clamp my helis to it. I don't trust rubber bands. This was just where I got the idea but mine doesn't rock nearly as much and has a different mounting base.

To each his own... All I'm saying is I would not do it. When I need to test stuff, I just take the main blades off, and that gives me most of the answers. If I were really worried about a particular setup, I'd build an appropriately-sized training gear set from bamboo sticks, cable ties and ping pong balls and do the testing that way.

Just thought I would share, yesterday I decided to check head speed on my B450/zyx and my B450x. I clamped them down to a large stable block of wood. The 450/zyx went fine with no issues. When I attempted to spool up the 450x, it tried to shake itself to pieces! I think the same thing is happening why you don't give cyclic when lifting off with a fbl system, the Beastx is sensing the ground resistance and is trying to compensate. (heli flies great normally)

Just my experience, but be extra cautious if you are testing fbl with a restrained heli!

Shawn, what you experienced is called ground resonance. Strapping down a heli can amplify this effect and can result in severe damage if you don't cut throttle immediately and go full negative pitch to slow down the rotor as fast as possible.

Thank you Dr. M, I have learned that lesson, luckily with no damage. Will be testing head speed from a hover from now on...
