113 grams heavier also. I know when I was flying the 2500 6S and switched to the 5S 4000, which is only 85 grams heavier than the 2500, I could really feel the weight. Im not referring to power either just the characteristics of aerobtics.

Yep that is why I like my 2500 Evolites over my 2500 25C pack. You can feel it and I prefer a lighter heli myself. It just feels crisper.

I just finished my TRex 500 and am still waiting on the EVOs to arive. I have some TP Extreme 4s 3850s laying around from a HDX500 and they fly pretty good. Slight bogging but nothing I would complain about.

I tried a 19 and 20 tooth and prefer the feel of the 20. I am getting 5:30 flight times at 100%. It's sweet. If it flies this well on 4 I can only imagine what will happen on 6s.

I did do some tight funnels with the 4s and the same funnel with 2 align 3s 2100s and the tail blew out on the 2100s. So the TP Extremes are actually better than paralleled aligns...I was shocked. I actually thought I was going see something amazing with 6s but the exact opposite occured. Anyway, here is a photo of my exact battery placement, as you can see it fits perfectly. I love this bird!

I've seen posted that the 500 on 4S wouldn't be good for anything but mild FFF but I saw the video posted here http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=52626 of Charley Stephens flying a 1750 gram HDX500 on 4S and hammering it around pretty well. Seems like a valid alternative if you have quality 4S packs. The reason I bring this up is I'm somewhat invested in FP EVO 3300 4S packs for my 55" 3D planes (using those packs in a 1200 watt system with my 3.9lb Extra is ballistic), and I am invested in 2100 packs which seem to offer limited flight time and uses twp packs per flight while hoping the packs are equally matched, buying 5S 3300 packs like JK flies is getting close to T600 battery costs which I find unreasonable.

Tried TP3850 Extreme 4S over the weekend started with 19T not bad, then changed to 20T. I liked the 20T. Performance wise is not too far away from the 6S setup ( 2 packs of TP2200 Extreme 3S). CG remained no change well balanced with either the 4S or the 6S config. Based on the 4S and 6S experiences, I believe JKs 5S with TP3300 SXV probably is the bset for all. I am really happy for Align, the Rex 500 is highly recommended for all current and future heli pilots, it is a great all around machine, very well made with no single issues after 20+ flights. In addition, the quality of the motor is great so far. However I am using Schulze 32.55K controller which sit right under the battery tray.

2 4cell 2100 evolite in series
CC HV45 esc
performance was good
I am not a 3d pilot
batts come down barely warm, motor hardly any heat detectable, esc nice and cool as well.
5 min 30 second flight time

I believe the unanymouse cry in all the forums on power discussions is:

6s = The Best
5s = Good
4s = Tolarable for Sport

2 3s - Depends, but will never match the power and performance of a 6s.

When I first started test flying and only had 4s packs I decided to try 2 align 3s packs. They were tolarable and no better than my 4s packs. They also puffed. They were the old aligns...no big shock there.

After my 3s and 4s experience I decided to buy just 1 6s EVO 2500 (25C) and it was awsome. I then purchased and tried the Align 6s 2500 to see if saving money would render the same performance. Yes, it did. I then orderes 2 more aligns, but due to stock issues at ReadyHeli I was forced to get 1 Align and 1 EVO. Sooo, I now have 2 Aligns and 2 EVOs and they all 4 rocks.

I have a log book where I mark every single charge. I always run them down to around 3.8-3.9V and always charge them at 2C. I set my timer for 6 minutes and that seems to be the magic number. It will fly for 7.5 but that is pushing it way down.

Anyway, in a couple months I will have some long term real life data to contribute to the forums on the Align v EVO discussion. Hopefully my Aligns can keep up, because they feel the same if not better and are way cheaper.

Hi I have a T rex 500 that I can barely get off the ground only once with the new batteries(2200 18C) could I get it to eye level, now it only goes no more than 1 foot off the ground??
Is it a battery problem or what?

Hi, just got myself a T Rex 500 but can't get it to lift more than a foot?? Is it a setting issue or batteries, it came with C18 2200 batteries, I read a lot on the Evolite 2500 6s, I'm new at this stuff can you help me get this thing to go?

Hey brother, get yourself someone to help you out. It sounds like you may be new to this hobby (just speculating b/c of your join date and the nature of your question).
It's a great hobby but these machines are not toys. You could seriously hurt yourself.

To your flying problem, even with a bad set of lipos the 500 should lift off. Check your radio settings and your pitch.
Can you elaborate a bit more on the symptoms? How fast are your blades spinning? What pinion are you using and what is your throttle curve?

Hi,

With 11.1V you're only flying with 3 cells. The 500 is geared for at least a 4 cell lipo.
Most fly the 500 with 6S.

my setup:
8s 2500 evolites
jazz 55 @ 75% gov mode
hacker A40 10L with a 15tooth pinion
medusa 6v bec pushing 9257s all around

I was able to get 4 minutes of 3D
the power absolutely blows away the 5s and 6s setups I tried. I couldn't get it to bog running 14* of pitch and 11* of cyclic. A smaller pinion may give me a bit more time tho.

Its 265 grams and the power makes up for the weight and then some. I just wish I could get more time out of it. I don't know what my head speed is but it is screaming and I had to lower the gyro gain from my 5s and 6s tests. a smaller pinion might help me but I'm really liking how quick it is with the high head speed.

I flew the hacker some more with a 14 tooth pinion and it looks like I'm getting 4:15-4:30 of 3D. But my paks are getting too hot @ 130*F with a 40* ambient temp. The motor and esc are both around 75*F
